My family's 1st trip to WDW. Update 11/28 So Sad It Is Our Last Day Pg 10 Final Post

Oh no...I've been so excited that we got a ressie at Chef Mickey's for December and now I"m afraid we'll be disappointed, too! In your opinion do you think it's worth it so we can see the characters and all? :confused3 Our kids are younger than yours (6,4,1 at the time) and this is the only character meal so to speak we're doing.

I love your rainbow picture and the monorail shots...the kids look soo excited! can't wait for the next installment!!!popcorn::

I think with the ages of your kids they will really like it. Especially if this is their only character meal. My kids are very picky eaters. :snooty: I probably should have mentioned that somewhere during the post. I would keep the ADR. I am just one person and the place was packed. I know a lot of people really like it.

Okay...thanks!! :goodvibes Sorry to stop your TR to ask you that!!! That was one of the meals I was adiment about and then I read your post and I was like, oh no!!! I guess doing it once will decide for our family too. Okay..back to the regluarly scheduled show....hehee!! :lmao:

Looking forward to more.

I don't mind you asking at all. Please feel free to ask all the questions you want. I don't know if I will be able to do another post tonight or not. I have to work tomorrow too. :guilty:

Awww....work, that always gets in the way, doesn't it? I'm sure your boss wouldn't mind if you told him you needed to be home to write to all these nosey people on DIS!! :rotfl:

Have a good night and we'll wait patiently for the next installment!!popcorn::

I set our wake up call for 7:00. The phone rings and since I read the DIS boards so much I know that I can press the speaker button and everyone will hear Mickey and Stitch tell us all to get going. I do this and nobody even stirs. :sad2: I go ahead and get in the shower. Mickey gets up and takes his shower. I start to tell everyone to get going. I brought breakfast food so those of us that eat breakfast grab something quick. I throw a couple of snacks in the back pack just in case. Do we make it to the bus stop by 8:00? Well no, but close. We are there by about 8:15. We don’t wait any longer than a couple of minutes and along comes a MK bus. We get to MK by 8:40. Plenty of time to see the opening show.

Mickey says “Why are we standing here?”

Minnie says “Just wait, all the characters arrive on a train”. :rolleyes1

Mickey “Huh?”

It is a Saturday and there are way fewer people than I expected. It was great. We get a spot right in the middle to watch the opening show.

Mickey says “Wow! That alone made the trip” or something like that. Mickey was impressed! Mickey isn’t easily impressed. If you have never seen the opening show it is well worth getting up early for while you are on vacation. It was a fantastic way to start our first day in the parks! :cool1: I almost had tears in my eyes.

We enter the park and take our first photopass picture. Sorry I don't have them back yet. We did stop and take these:

That was me pointing.

This is one of my favorites:

And we our off for Dumbo. Well everyone else is but I head to Space Mountain for our first FastPass. The FP line is long. I get it confused with the line for the ride. I get the FP. I think our return time was 10:45. I call Mickey on his cell and they still aren’t on Dumbo. By the time I get there they are just walking on. This was probably the longest wait we had all day. I see my first lime green mickey head. It is Gretchen from Pennsylvania who just got on Dumbo the same time my family did. I show her my LGMH. This will be my last encounter with a LGMH. I also loose my LGMH somewhere on our first day. Anyway, here they are on Dumbo:

We then walked on Peter Pan, Tea Cups, Small World and the carrousel. Some more pictures:

We did all of this and were able to go to Mickey’s Toontown just a little after 10 am. We walk on Barnstormer with no wait. We like that little coaster so we do it again, of course with no wait.

One of Ariel’s priority’s for our trip was to see Mickey and Minnie’s house. Here were are at Minnie’s house.

That is a picture of Mulan taking a picture with her cell phone. Doesn't Mulan look happy though?

Inside Minnie's oven is a cake that rises when you turn the knob. We were all fascinated by this.

Next, it is off to Tomorrowland. Thanks to a reading DIS boards I know that there is a quiet walkway that runs behind Toontown into Tomorrowland. I think we get a FP for Buzz first. This also gives a FP for the Carousel of Progress. I guess they are trying to get more people to see what it is. We decide we are hungry so we go to Cosmic Rays for lunch. Sorry no food pictures. Mickey gets the roasted chicken and rib platter. I get the roasted chicken. The kids get chicken nuggets and fries. The roasted chicken was good. It came with green beans and mashed potatoes. It was nice to be able to have the option of something other than cheeseburger and fries. I would get it again. :thumbsup2 The kids liked their chicken nuggets. Ariel was upset because hers were different. So we divide everything up so everyone has the same thing. I don’t blame Ariel. The adult chicken nuggets looked way better than the kids. I don’t know why they just don’t use the same ones just smaller portions for the kid’s meals.

Finally we get to ride Space Mountain. My all time favorite roller coaster. It is as fun as I remember. I got to sit in frong and I scream and laugh the whole way. :rotfl: Everyone agrees that this is a great ride. :thumbsup2 We come out and there is a rain shower so we put on those rain ponchos and head to Carousel of Progress which is a perfect attraction for the rain. When we come out the rain has stopped so we decide to do Stitch’s Great Escape. I warn everyone that this ride doesn’t have the best reputation. They want to do it anyway. I find that I don’t think it is as bad as everyone says it is. It has a lot of fun surprises. Then it is off to Buzz. One of my kid’s favorite rides at Six Flags is like this but with Scooby Doo. Buzz is way better. Here are the kids after the ride. I don’t know who that boy is but that is ok.

It is getting close to our break time so we get another FP for Space Mountain and head back to the room. On the way out of the park Ariel who has never been able to hold onto money says she wants to spend some of hers on a balloon. I point out that they are $10 and she only has $20 in cash and what we have on the gift card. I remind her of the lollipop and dress she wants. She says that she wants the balloon. Here she is after we get off the bus at POR:

We find that our Mousekeeper did this to Mrs. Flabidee (Ariel's bunny):

This is the start of a wonderful game we play with our Mousekeeper, Evangelina.

Mickey and I take Ariel and Goofy for a swim. Mulan wants to stay in the room to rest. We go to the pool with the water slide. Our room isn’t anywhere near the pool with the slide. I feel like we have to walk forever to get there. I even have to stop people to ask if I am going the right direction. There aren’t enough signs at POR. We finally get there, have a nice swim and relax. I forget the camera but figure we will have time to go back, right? After our swim we go back to the room and I make everyone lay still and be quiet until it is time to leave for our ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern (LTT).

Coming Soon: Two Goofys work at LTT.

Nancy,

Sounds like you had a pretty good start to your trip. My family is planning our last first trip to WDW next month staying at POR so I am looking forward to reading your TR. I stopped over from Marina's TR. :)

I saw that picture of the bunny and said "awwwww". That is so cute!

Great update - sounds like a wonderful MK day. We've never been to rope drop at MK but the show looks fabulous - really should do it one of these days. I've seen videos of it and get teary eyed!

My daughter(8) loves to get those balloons too - it has become a tradition now.

Looking forward to more.

Great trip report so far. I just have to comment that I love Six Flag's Scooby Doo ride too.

Glad you decided to join the fun. Let me know if you have any questions about POR. It is a beautiful resort but very large. Fortunately we were close to the west bus stop and a quiet pool. The food court and main pool were a good 10-15 minute walk away or maybe it felt that way. All I know is that one morning I walked to the food court just to get drinks and it took me a half hour. We had no problems with the buses like everyone else talks about.

I hope you keep reading. I don't know if I will post an update tonight.

We had the same opinion of Chef Mickey's you did. It was a great way to meet the characters and not stand in lines, but I wouldn't go there for the food.

You are doing a great job of weaving tips into your report!
