My family all has the same last name!

After one year, a lawyer, a home study, a guardian ad litum (which all costs us money), and 7 years of a dead beat dad (who at last count owed $13,000), my husband is officially and legally the father of our son!!!!

Who woulda thought it would be so hard for a man who wants to be a dad to take over from a man who never was a dad?

Anyway, it is done! Just in time for our trip!!!!!!!!!

In Canada if the biological father does not waive his right to the child the step father can't legally adopt the child and have the name changed.

It is great to hear that! I have always thought that 'family' was not something that should fit into just a biological definition. I come from a big family bioligically, but I never would have gotten this far in life if it wasn't for the rest of my family, what other people call friends.
