... I need new glasses. I went for the buy one get one free offer and they've cost me £260 :scared1:. I did get the reactions lenses in one pair that added about £50 to the cost - but it certainly is more expensive than I thought it would be. And before anyone says it I DID GO TO SPECSAVERS!!

Same here Libby, I did mine through the people that come around the company, so I had a free test and a % off and picked Diesel ones that cost me £260 with the discount, I am paying monthly over 12 months though through my pay so not so bad, but the ironic thing is that I was allowed to pick a second pair for £15 as I had spent over £250 and picked a deep red pair of Jai Kudo ones, now they have both come and I prefer the £15 ones better than the Diesel ones and havent put the more expensive ones on my head:rotfl2::rotfl2:

My eyes are now so bad that Im -8.5 in both:scared1::scared1:

Goodness me thats a lot of money, my Mum has a strong prescription (been wearing classes 55 years) and I'm always shocked how much she pays, I think its because she pays extra for vari something:confused3 and thinner lenses and trendy frames - two pairs can cost her over a thousand pounds:scared1::scared1:

Blimey :scared1: im glad i had mine lasered

Thats what DH always says, it's paid for itself already:thumbsup2

This has prompted me to think about time for another eye test. I need glasses all the time for driving etc, but now find I cannot read with them and have to hold items quite close to my face to read :confused3

That's alot of money. Makes me glad I have 20/20 vision.

I genuinely do not understand why people - who do not have VERY specific vision problems - still buy glasses from opticians. Even SpecSavers charge a FORTUNE. You get your prescription, then go buy the glasses ONLINE (often, especially if you are buying brand-name frames, you can get identical frames to the ones you would buy in the shop!).

Try glassesdirect.co.uk next time :thumbsup2

Oh and if you already have frames you like - you can have them sent off and replaced with new lenses much cheaper than at the opticians too.
