My experience with a tour of Cars Land!

Some other bits and pieces.

Kathy joked that there's going to be some very angry hummingbirds in this land, because most of the flowers are actually tail lights.

There's two roads in Cars Land; the main drag, Route 66, and a cross street, aptly named Cross Street, which leads you out to Bugs Land on one side and the Pacific Wharf area on the other.

Route 66 was designed to look brand new and in excellent condition, because it's supposed to be the golden era of the town and most people would come through on Route 66. Cross Street looks worn and old, because only locals really travel it, so it doesn't need to be taken care of as nicely.

At the intersection of Cross Street and Route 66 is a blinking yellow stoplight. In the movie, Fillmore has a great line where he swears every third light is slower than the rest. Make sure you watch the light!!!

There is a statue of Stanley at the end of Route 66 with his infamous gold tooth. Apparently it will be a fountain but the water feature wasn't turned on.

I really think this land is going to be a success. I know some people are worried about there only being three rides for a whole land, but the land itself is a huge attraction. I could see just going and sitting with some flavored popcorn or churro bites or frozen drink and just enjoying the atmosphere. It really does make you feel like you're in the movie.

After the ride on Mater's we walked back the same way we entered and headed to Blue Sky Cellar to pick up our stuff. There, the gave us our last surprise... A Cars Land bag, a Disney Parks Blog pin, and this awesome metal attraction poster thing for Mater's Junkyard Jamboree!!

Afterwards we got to watch World of Color from a reserved section, which was fun. Overall, this was an amazing experience, I feel so lucky, and I can't wait for the land to really open!!

If you want a little more, the Disney Parks Blog wrote a small review here.

And Mice Chat has a review here, in which they added some photos they already had.

Wow great experience! Yeah Flos sound like a hit! I have lots of plans just to find a seat order a pie or a beer and just watch the cars run around the mountain range! I heard about the outside seating before, but I wasnt sure would it be the same area where you can see the track or would it just be at the entrance the concept art in the past has showed, but so far has not heard if that is still happening. Do you know if there will be outside seats at the entrance as well?

From what Kathy said, the outside seating will be on the side by RSR. I doubt they'd put any seating out front; it would sort of ruin the concept of a gas station out there. There definitely wasn't any sort of seating in the front when we were there.

Ok thanks!

It sounds like the idea to have seating in the front has been changed but it WAS part of the plan at one point if you look at this concept art here:

That pic hangs (or did) in the Blue Sky Cellar, so that was the idea at some point. But I agree though, it would ruin the entire gas station theme if they had tables and chairs in front of it, so happy they changed it!

I wondered about seating in the front outside of Flo's also. We grew up with a drive in burger place that looked a lot like that. With the radio to order from your car and the girls skating out to your car to deliver your food.

At first the front of Flo's (although awesome theming) looks like they could have used the space better. But I imagine lines will fill it up and they don't want the lines going out into the street maybe?

This has me really excited for our next trip. and I love the poster you got! How cool is that??

Thx for the review. It was nice seeing bits and pieces of CL from Screamin and Mickey's Fun Wheel...can't wait to actually be inside of it.

I mean, it's still totally possible they'll have seating out front. But it wasn't mentioned during the tour like the outside seating on the side was. And it's only my personal opinion that I think adding seating in the front would look weird.

But... I think seating in the front would look weird! :lmao: Hopefully they won't do it.

I know they won't do this but I just imagined cars parked like the old drive up I knew in my home town and people could sit in them like at Sci Fi dining at WDW. It just looks so similar to the old drive up and park and be served in your car that I have fond memories of. :)

Thank you for the awesome review. I am soooo jealous you got to do this.:thumbsup2 That is one adventure you will never forget. You can now add that to your finished bucket list.

I love how you said that cars land sells gas at .61 :rotfl2: Aaahhhhhhhh Disney magic at its finest. If only they can spread that magic outside the resort.

What a great opportunity to have gotten! I enjoyed reading your report, thanks for sharing!

Actually that COULD work and would keep it in theme perfectly! Have the tables and chairs set up like cars (although I guess unlike Sci Fi dining, they will face each. It would be weird to have your back turned to them) as each car is sat up to a pump! So I agree it can work if they design the seating around cars and not just the plain old tables and chairs like that concept art does. I guess we'll know soon if they are going to do something with the front or not soon!

Thanks for sharing..sounds like such fun! I was going to wait until August to (try) and experience CarsLand but just bit the bullet and signed up for the D23 dinner with John Lasseter..what an impulse buy! I still can't believe that next week I'll be in a plane (and I hate to fly) going to CA for the preview..then back on a plane 24 hours later..I sure hope we can take pictures.

Dinner with John Lasseter??! No wonder those tickets were so darn expensive. There was a previous thread about some people who were amazed that APs have to pay for a preview, and we were wondering why the dinner tickets were so gosh darn expensive. That's definitely a reason to be charging $500 for the preview! Have a great time! John Lasseter is extremely nice :) and I'm extremely jealous:goodvibes

Thanks for the thorough review mrsxsparrow! Totally excited for carsland!!!

Well..I don't think it's so much having dinner WITH them..but they'll be there..I'm sure it will be crowded and so maybe won't see him much except through the crowd. :) The dinner the 9th will have Disney family member(s)..rumored to be Diane, so that would be amazing also.

Thanks for sharing!! And I love how you broke it down into the areas you visited, in the order you visited, and how you kept us hanging on for the next part. So exciting!!! Thank you.
