As some of you know I am all for the Dining Plan and the Dulx plan... well do to the boss being gone today :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 I finally had the chance to sit down and figure out what we are saving... so hear you are....

9 Day 8 Night Stay: (3 X 8 = 24credits) 2 Adults: $69.99(2) X 8 = $1119.84 1 Child(4): $19.99 X 8 = $159.92 = $1279.76 (TOTAL)

We have 14 ADRS: totally 19 Credits (leaves us with 5 credits each for other meals (ie counter service etc)

We have 5 Signature Meals: Yahtsman Steakhouse, Narcoosees, Flying Fish Cafe, Artist Point, & Cinderellas Royal Table (Totally 10 credits)

We have 9 Other ADRS: Cape May Buffet (Dinner), Askerhaus, Coral Reef, Cape May Buffet (Breakfast), Crystal Palace, Biergratan, Chef Mickeys, LeCellier, 1900 Park Fair (Totally 9 Credits)

Doing the WHAT WE THINK WE WOULD EAT senerios using online menus and prices: DH: $549.39 (plus 5 additional credits) ME DW: $513.87 (Plus 5 additional credits DD(4): $195.14 (Plus 5 additional Credits) = $1258.40 (PLUS 5 Additional MEAL CREDITS)

PLUS we get the 2 snacks (2 X 8 = 16 so 16 X 3(estimate) = $48 so $48 X 3= $144) & the Refillable Mug (3 X 12.99 = $38.97) = $182.97 (Snacks and Mug)

SO we have "spendt" $1258.40 + $182.97 = $1441.37

Taking the Price of the Plan $1279.76 and figuring our "spent" $1441.37 - We have already SAVED: $161.61 BUT WE STILL HAVE THE 5 remaing Credits EACH!!!! To be used to fill in meals throughout the stay Breakfast's and Lunches (all dinners are ADRs) = so figure we get appox $10 out of each credit remaining $10 X 15 credits = $150 (this is an estimate) we are saving $311.61 for our meals: plus have tax included (yes we have to pay tips --- but I prefer this as I tip on service - give me good service i will give you a GREAT tip) PLUS we have the ease of all meals being PAID up front and we ARE saving in my eyes a great deal... Our daughters meal plan is essentionally FREE + additional savings for us!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO  :yay: :woohoo:

OK THATS MY STORY AND I AM STICKING TO IT!!!!!!!!

I always figure it out the same way. Granted, I keep on changing my mind about where I want to eat, but every time I add it up I get around $1,000 worth of food, which is costing me less then $400, since I got the deluxe plan with the bounce-back promo.

How did you figure out the "value" of the snack credits? It looks like you added them in at $1 each, I would say they are worth at least $2 each, and that's only if you get bottled water and stuff. Of course you can get a lot of the higher end snacks too, and get more bang for the buck, but it is a lot of food.

Yeah I figured them low... just for the least savings idea... I am basically figuring the least amount I will save... which is A TON... I am so excited... The other thing I didnt include was the drink... at some places I am guessing we would also get charged for a pop, tea, coffee etc so there is additional savings....

The DxDP is a huge savings!!! And $19.99 a day for 3 meals + 2 snacks + refillable mug for a child is a steal! We used it last month and LOVED it. We're doing DxDP again in August

Isnt it though.... :thumbsup2 I love it!!!! yes with the savings I dont see how people say its NOT worth it... its amazing and the the dulx you still get the app and dest...:cloud9:

Can someone tell me how much more it is for the Deluxe plan? We did the bounceback for Sept/Oct 08 but we only did the free DDP, and didn't upgrade. Wonder if we decided to upgrade how much more it would be? And if it's too late since the bounceback is gone....although I think they let you upgrade things as long as it increases the cost of the package? We eat a lot of counter service type meals back home...so when we go to Disney we like a lot of Table Services :)

It's $32 a night for adults, (which is the difference in what it would normally cost.) I'm assuming it would be $10 a night for children.

Don't forget the tax on the mugs, when we "bought" our 3 it came to $39.97 or somethign like that.

We used all but 1 dining credit, all of our snack credits and I figured we saved $330+ for 2 adults and 1 child over a 7 night stay.

Our break-down was this:
3 signature dinners x 3 people x 2TS= 18 credits used
8 regular TS meals x 3 people x 1TS= 24 credits used
20 CS meals, these were mainly split between us using 1 or 2 credits at a time
1 left over

So I am even saving more... woo hoo... :) I just love this Dulx Plan!!!!!!! :worship: :thumbsup2  :woohoo: :cheer2:

We also found that the DxDP is easy to use! All of the CMs were very helpful. And I loved that two suggested tip amounts (18% and 20% I think, can't exactly remember) were printed on the receipt. I didn't even have to figure that out! So nice to have all meals and snacks prepaid!

Cant agree more... I am a price looker... I will never treat myself if I feel its to expensive on a menu... this way I can order whatever I want and not have to feel guilty about it.. :) woo hoo... :thumbsup2

I really think the Dining plans have gotten a unneccessary bad rap...:confused3

I don't know, we're ordering the steak at Jiko and LeCellier when we go, and eating what we want at all TS and CS locations and we're still saving a few hundred dollars by not doing the DDP.

I haven't given the DDP a bad rap necessarily, I've just seen how eating what we want when we want can save us money by paying OOP and not doing a DDP.

It works great for some, but not great for others, and I think it's a great thing that Disney has something to accommodate everyone. :goodvibes

I figured out my meals, and it looks like I'll be getting over $1,000 of food, and that's only from TS meals, not including the drinks. That also doesn't include the snacks or the refillable mugs, which should add at least another $100 worth of food, ($40 drinks, $12 mug, $50 or more from snacks.) :goodvibes

I was considering booking the Deluxe plan for our family of 3's trip in June (2 adults 1child). I think the plan looks great value, but we are going for 17 nights and I the total cost is putting me off!

$69.99 x 2 x 17 = $2379.66 + $19.99 x 17 = $2719.49

And although I do really LOVE food I am worried I may get a little fed up of eating towards the end of our trip and also a lot worried about the excess baggage I will be carrying home!

If you're doing a split stay book Deluxe for part of the trip and Basic for the other. I would probably book Deluxe first so you get your mugs early!

Cant agree with you more.... something for everyone... We are saving money.... you may not... each person/family needs to make the decsion... :)

I didnt even include the beverages at all the ts meals so thats an additional savings...

Are you using the DDE? Is that how you are saving? We can't get the DDE because we're not Florida residents and we don't have an AP. So we end up saving more using the DP. It just seems that most people who say they save by not doing the DP uses the DDE. But not everyone has the option of getting the DDE.

Yes we are, we'll have taken four trips in one year (when we go in March) and the DDE/AP's were a LIFESAVER for us! We're going to save $450 (ish) by not doing the plan and $146 of that savings is the DDE.
