Hi. I can't believe that it is a year already. He has grown so much. I can honestly say I only have 1 page scrapped of him. Guess that is what happens when you are number 4. Hope everyone stays cool and has a great day. Not sure what we are going to do with the birthday boy for the day.

A most Happy Birthday to him. I believe it was your daughter who posted when he was born - doesn't seem possible that he is already a year old.

That was her. She even said this morning that i remember at this time last year I was texting and posting everything about Drew. We all were in my bedroom this morning and all sang to him. He is king for the day!

Happy Birthday to your handsome boy!! :goodvibes

I'm behind (which is nothing new!). . .HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DREW!!!!

Well I now know what is wrong with my drewbug. He is allergic to soy, milk, wheat, eggs and peanuts. I feel really bad as we were giving him soy formula for the last couple months. His favorite snacks were the gerber puffs. We have to give him rice milk. Our Disney trip will be different with having to watch everything that is going into his mouth. I think we are going to have to have groceries delivered.

that's good you figured out what he was allergic too, hope he is feeling better!
how's your foot doing?
I'm in a special shoe for a couple weeks, severe sprain to myleft foot from walking off a curb wrong, at least its not broken!
we will have to make some plans soon to get together at WDW....we are staying at POFQ, changed from POP, surprising Megan with the new resort!

I'm glad you figured out what Drew is allergic to. My daughter just got diagnosed with gluten (wheat/barley/rye) last October. She went to Disney in February and they are great with food allergies. If you send an email to WDW Special Diets at WDW.Special.Diets@disney.com they will send you a pile of information of what you can eat in each park. The staff at all the restaurants are also very knowledgeable.

I know Drew is younger and it might be easier to jsut bring his food in the park but the info is a great backup. And she swore that the allergin free chicken nuggets were fabulous!

Also for "real life" a good name brand food product for you would be "Enjoy Life". All Enjoy Life foods are specially made to be free of the eight most common allergens. That means they contain NO wheat/gluten, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish or shellfish. It's nice when you can have a "go-to" label. This is their website http://www.enjoylifefoods.com

Good luck with everything!

Thank you for the information. I will look into all of this. We just felt like we were punched in the gut with this. He seems like he feels better in just the couple of days he has been off the soy formula. He really likes the rice milk. I went yesterday and bought the store brand rice milk and when I got home looked at the package and it contained soy. returned it to the store. I guess I have to stick to the rice dream brand.

I understand what you mean! We left the doctors office with the news and went straight to the grocery store. What a nightmare trying to find breakfast items and a school lunch to pack for her. And our first choices were so inedible it is almost funny looking back at it. Fast forward to now and it is so much easier. It is trickier when we go out to eat, but you learn which restaurants have the knowledge. Luckily he isn't allergic to corn, that will give you more options as he gets older and since he isn't allergic to rice it will allow you to bake with rice flour (and a blend of other flours- potato, tapioca, etc)

What I did was go onto Amazon to buy some cookbooks -- if you read the reviews you will get ones that work for your family. There are tons of good options out there. Also here is a blog that might be helpful to you. They post some very good recipes and life advice - http://www.adventuresofaglutenfreemom.com/ And this site has very good forum boards and is not totally gluten based. http://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/

And it is worth it to know he is feeling better -- my daughter was 14 when she was diagnosed so she was able to verbalize to me how much better she almost immediately felt. Good luck!
