My dog is getting old. She has a routine. After she eats breakfast and goes outside she goes immediately to our bedroom for a nap on our bed. Then she does her living room couch nap, then she does her sunbeam on the floor nap, next is her family room couch nap. By that time, it's almost time for the kids to come home so she starts her under the piano bench nap.

It cracks me up because I can usually predict where she will be based on time of day. From what I can tell, she keeps it up on days I'm gone as well because I'll catch her stretching and emerging from those rooms when I walk in the door.

I do have to admit this is easier than her "let me out, let me in" routine on really nice days.

Does your dog have a schedule?

My lab was like that! And don't dare try to deviate them from their routine!! I would get the dirtiest looks from her!! Our new puppy is developing her own routines, she is very offending that I wake her from her after breakfast nap on the hearth to go into the kitchen when we leave.

my lab sorta has his days and nights mixed up - he wanders the house alot during the night and he is always looking in the yard for critters - when everyone gets up for the day he goes to his bed and sleeps for a while - during the day he usually follows me around - right now he is at my feet but if I go upstairs he'll be right behind me

I have to admit, I moved her back to the bedroom and put her on our bed just to see what she would do. I've been going in and out putting away laundry. She's still lying there, but she's giving me the evil eye for messing up her schedule. I think she's confused now!

My dog was like that too! She would take a nap until a certain time when we kids would wake up. Then she would be up with us waiting for our ride to come. She would watch us leave and then I am sure she would get on the furnature and take a nap.. NOT ALLOWED at her old age.. But it was okay. And it was funny because she would just stand outside for hours and hours and just stand there.. and what was even funnier was she knew when my mom got home even before she was in the driveway or off work. She would wake up 20 minutes before she got home and would pace around the house for her to come home. It was funny to see the look on her face when she came home early or got stuck in traffic. She was like that up until the day we had her put to sleep and was a sweetie!

The other dog does not really have a schedule. She just lays on the couch in the window.. or on the floor by the heater.. Funny dog! I think she misses her friend!

I love when they follow that bit of sun across the room :upsidedow

My beagle is 17 !! years old. He takes his naps on his blanket in the living room and gets very confused if I am washing the blanket and it isn't there. He will walk back and forth and give us dirty looks.

He only does the back yard patrol around the fence perimeter in the early morning now. But he knows it is 3:30pm, because he is always sitting at the front door waiting for the kids to get off the bus. Then it is back to the blanket in the living room.

He usually has a hard day with all the sleeping he does.
