Uh! Out in the garage to kiss DH and DS goodbye as they are off to hockey practice and we hear a big crash...... it was the Taco meat that I made for dinner in one of my favorite bowls........ featured below

So, DisBuddies, what's the punishment for my dog Tucker?

What punishment would fit the crime of a dasterdly dog, jumping up on the dining table to scouf up my leftovers AND to break my $70 bowl......

You decide.

I know a bowl has a purpose, but I would be afraid to use one that cost $70!

I think eating all that Taco meet will be punishment enough for the dog. I would try to keep him in another room for awhile if I were you! :earseek:

That dog isn't going to have a good night having eaten all that taco meat... :rotfl2:

When my dog was a puppy she actually stole a whole loaf of garlic bread from the kitchen counter. Meanwhile my father was blaming my mother for eating all of the garlic bread! Then all the sudden we hear a dog burping under the dining room table... :rotfl:

I would just leave it alone in the garage for awhile, or outside. Chances are that meat is not going to digest well with him, or not at all, and he'll throw up all over the place.

How big is this dog to have eaten an entire bowl of taco meat?

Oh i would be so upset over the bowl. I have $100.00 gravy boat that I only use on Special Holidays! Now for Tucker, well what to do with the fellow... :scratchin :confused3 Maybe eating all that Taco Meat might be enough as others have said!

By the way, it is okay to give a dog Pepto Bismol.

So far, Tucker is okay. He's a golden retriever, about 80 lbs. a full of love. He is a really great dog.

My everyday china is portmeirion Botanic Garden, so the bowl is important, but not a critical component.

I just can't believe he methodically thought about doing this and then acted upon it!!! :dog:

He's a great dog but tends to be a little too smart for his own good. :paw:

He's lucky that it was ground chicken and not beef..... :scared:

We had one German Shepherd who stole a large tray of frozen solid boneless (fortunately!!) chicken breasts that my mother had just set out to defrost (I know, it shouldn't be done on the counter, but this was years ago ;) ). It still had the plastic wrapping and everything. My mom left the kitchen for a few minutes and when she came back the chicken was nowhere to be seen. She eventually found Gretel licking the yellow foam tray clean :rotfl2:

Another GS, Hansel (notice a trend here?) once stole a canned ham. My mom opened it and threw away the lid, then the phone rang or something (again, this was years ago, before cordless phones) and when she came back Hansel was halfway through the ham. He was lucky he didn't cut his mouth on the rim, but she caught him in time. He also stole a sandwich off the dining room table once.

We didn't punish them (for one thing, we were all laughing hysterically each time :rotfl: when we discovered the stolen merchandise). Hansel's been dead for 14 years and I still think he was the smartest and greatest dog we ever owned. And Gretel has been gone for 4 years and I still miss her.

I have a rather decrepit 13 y/o terrier mix, a street rescue (as a pup), who's the apple of my eye. She's sarting to have erratic behaviors, age-related changes, but oh well, someone will have to put up with ME when I start peeing where I'm not supposed to :rolleyes1 , so I live with it :dog2:

Oh my does that sound so familiar. Our Lab is always eating things off the counter/table if you turn your back for a second. The bowl was beautiful! I'd be upset about that! I hope Tucker's tummy stays okay. It's amazing what dogs can eat and still be okay. By the way, my brother had a Golden named Tucker and one year he ate the Thanksgiving Turkey!!! :rotfl:

When I was 15 we had an irish setter for a few weeks (someone couldn't have it because they had a baby, but after a few weeks it went after our little dog we had already, so we found it another home). One day my mom went to KFC (love of takeout runs in the family) and I was across the street--my sister came across to bring me home--when I got home I had an empty box! The dog had eaten 2 whole pieces of chicken, bones and all. All I had was a small container of mashed potatoes.

Sounds like it's time to order a pizza and have your doggie do some chores to pay you back for that bowl lol.

The only thing you can really do to punish him is just let him know that your angry with him, although that never lasts for long, especially when they give you those puppy eyes...

Good thing it was ground chicken! You would have had a gassy dog on your hands! One thing you can do to prevent this in the future is to actually have a shelf set up higher than the dog can reach. We have a huge dog too, a 105 lb. Great Pyrenees... so we always have to be careful. She loves people food...

Laurajean, maybe some ice cream will quell the "burns both ways" effect! :rotfl: Yup, I'd say that's punishment enough...

Have him go on ebay and find you another bowl. Maybe he can find a matching doggie dish so he won't be so jealous that he has to try and eat out of yours.

I think you should eat a doggie cookie in front of him and not give him any. ;)

Come on.. I triple DOG dare ya. :teeth:

I'm so sorry, especially about the bowl. I have a lab and she would never do anything like that. Our cat is an entirely different story though. You can't turn your back on her for a 2nd.

If your dog is anything like mine though, the taco meat will not phase her in the least. My dog ate spicy chili yesterday and loved every bit of it. Kids, gotta love em, huh? They sneak her anything!

Yeah, we lost 10 out of 12 blueberry muffins this weekend -- courtesy of my two mutts. :(
