My daughter wants to go the tea at the GF on our next trip. I told her how much it costs and she said she would save up her money for it since we have quite awhile until we go. Is it worth her saving up her money?

If you've never had tea at a fancy hotel before, then I'd say yes, definately. I personally love the "ceremony" of having tea, and the food was quite good. There are a number of options, so you should both find something enjoyable. I can heartily recommend the strawberries and cream!

I definitely think it's worth. My mom and I finally tried it after always backing out last minute three years ago and now its a must do for us each trip. We always get the buckingham palace seems to be a perfect sampling of everything for us and only 19.95 so it doesn't break the bank too much.:goodvibes

I also agree that it's worth it. It's a great mother/daughter outting!!! :)

I plan on taking my mom to the tea as a "thank you!" for all she's doing to help plan my wedding.

It's really fun and a nice break for a mom and daughter duo!

I wasn't specific enough in my first post. I meant the charcter tea. For me and daughter it will cost around $250 (I don't remember the exact price at the moment) for the both of us. On our last trip she did the castle package and Bibbidi and remembers it to this day. She wanted to try something different this trip.

I'd repost this question since you're inquiring about the My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea and not the GF Garden View Tea Room.

I haven't actually done this yet but have thought long and hard about it. I actually booked it for our trip in June and then chickened out and cancelled due to the cost. If money were no object, I would certainly do it but the total cost came to $264 and change. We can do a lot of fun things and buy a lot of neat stuff with that much money so that's what I plan to do. We're staying at POR and planning to do the carriage ride there. And we're going to have a mommy/daughter morning while her dad and big brother go on the Keys to the Kingdom tour. I currently have the 2 of us booked for lunch at Crystal Palace but am hoping to catch an opening at CRT. We will spend the rest of that morning shopping, checking out the new Tink area in Toontown, looking for princesses, and just whatever she wants. For me, it came down to doing one big thing or being able to spend a lot more of the trip saying yes instead of saying "No, we've already spent all our treat money." You might look into some other, less expensive, options for you and your daughter and present her with an alternate plan that she might find more enticing.

We did this on our last trip for the first time ever. It's a tough pill to swallow, with it costing as much as it does. In retrospect, I think every little girl should do it once, but I probably couldn't justify a return trip. I wasn't going to do it at first, but decided since I had already made my daughter and her friend matching pink and blue Aurora gowns, that it was then or never! (as I didn't plan on doing those gowns again!) There is a lot of entertainment for the money. We loved Rose Petal and the songs she sang. Months later, my daughter still signs the song about Sleeping Beauty that Rose Petal taught them.

For something way cheaper, but still really cool, you might want to consider the Wonderland Tea Party, also at the Grand Floridian. It's a "kids only" event, though. No grown-ups allowed! The kids have a fun tea party and Alice and the Mad Hatter are there to play games. It lasts about an hour and I think the cost is around $30. My 5 year old son has done it twice and loved it both times! Here's a picture from our last trip of my little guy and his cousin. They let you go in and get the kids settled and snap a few pictures, then they make all the mommies and daddies leave so the kids can have fun. It's a real blast for the kids!

Thanks for posting about this for your son and his cousin....my son, last year absolutely loved meeting Cinderella at CRT and the princesses at Askershus and I was considering adding this onto our schedule this year but wasn't sure if boys go or not! DS5 really thinks the Mad Hatter is too cool, so maybe we'll add this for him to do this year!

He loves it! He's done it once with his cousin and once by himself and always has a blast. (He's a huge Mad Hatter fan, too.) The Mad Hatter plays some silly games, uses very bad manners at tea, etc.

There are usually a few boys there. There are definitely more girls, but my little guy doesn't seem to notice or care. He's having too much fun. They get to decorate their own cupcakes and lots of other fun stuff. I definitely recommend it for boys or girls!

My daughter has been to the Wonderland Tea Party twice. In January 08 it was $28. By December it was up to $42. Still, it is one of the better values in all of Disney. Worth EVERY penny. It was one of her favorite parts of the trip. I will say that I didn't see any boys there either time, but if he's up for it, he's sure to get a lot of attention! It just killed me though that I couldn't stay and take pictures!
