I know Disney thinks we're all automatically millionaires or we wouldn't be going to their park, but COME ON!

I just found this at the official site, and I'm scrolling, thinking, oooh, Aurora for lunch, this sounds so nice, it's so pretty....

$200 for ONE adult and ONE child???? FOR LUNCH?????

Sometimes I just feel like throwing in the towel. Disney's a wonderful place to visit, but they are absolutely consumed with gouging us for every penny they can get.

Needless to say, my girls will NOT be hearing about this one.

Irritated,

Kris

I agree totally with you. There's no reason for this to be so expensive. Sometimes I think Disney just thinks "If you offer it they will come", ----Well, not us either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DMIL had wanted to check into doing this with my 4 daughters in November - no way Nana :faint: . She could put them all up at a resort for another week on what that would cost for the six of us!

Didn't even mention it to my girls.

I thought it was a little too expensive too. :(

We'll stick with the other offerings - the Alice In Wonderland Tea Party has been a big hit with Allison!!! She's been many times and just has a great time every time!!
She's also tried the Pirate Cruise and Adventures in Cooking! The Tea Party is her absolute favorite, although she had a great time at the other two!

The sad thing is that they wouldn't offer it at that price if it wasn't being booked out!

I hate to think how many meals we'll eat on holiday before we spend $200 in total!

I agree that it is $$$, but don't forget that they do get quite a few goodies--I think probably around $75 worth or so.

And the few posts I've read on this experience have given rave reviews for the most part.

I'm sure I'll be taking DD when she is older (3 months today!)

It's a lot of money, but I'm taking DD4 on 8/20. I've justified it to myself by remembering that she is only going to be 4 once, and I know she'll love it and I'll have memories to last a lifetime. She did the Wonderland Tea Party on our last trip, but it will be great to do something like that together. When we get back, I'll post if it was worth the $.

I wish I could, but I cannot see spending that much money. I'm feeling guilty enough about how much this trip is costing. $200 goes a long way towards something our whole family can enjoy. But, if someone else can and wants to go, that's their personal decision.

F1Julie - let us know how it was! We'll be at CRT on the 20th.

I am a sucker....
We are doing it. (Daughter is 4 and has NO idea she's going...I told her we were bringing her Sleeping beauty dress w/us on the trip.)
I cannot believe we are doing it.
it's an extra 65 or 85 for hubby to attend!
The deal is that they give the girl attending a collectible American Doll that is JUST for Disney (It has Aurora cloths.) If its a boy, they get a bear.
They get a tiarra and get to dress up.

The dolls are expensive originally BUT not THAT expensive.
Once...only once.

I have never metioned it to my 2 girls--it just seems to expensive. We were blessed to get to CRT this past trip so that was our princess experience. Just seems like alot of money and we do other character meals as well. Thanks for making feel like i'm not the only one who won't be doing it.

While I agree it is very expensive, and I would probably not ever do this event because I have 2 daughters and it would be very pricey. I also have 3 boys and cannot jusify spending that amount of only some of my children.

I think that Disney keeps at this price for a few reasons. One being that people are willing to pay this much. Another being, if it were a more affordable event then it would certainly be the "hardest event to get into", more people would be doing it and it would love the appeal. The price sets it apart for any other event.

While it is an event for the children I think that most of it is for the parents. They are living their dream come true too!

But as many times as I've said, "Ok, what's another $100 or so," I can't say it this time. (I have three girls going with me, for one thing!!)

I said it for the MVMCP, and for a character breakfast at CRT if I can get in, and 1900 Park Fare dinner if we can't...heck, I've said it for this whole plastic-based trip we're taking....

Maybe I could sneak off to have tea with Aurora and leave the kids with Dad....lol!

Sorry if anyone felt flamed for going...we all make choices how we're going to spend outrageous amounts of money at Disney. The only thing that's certain is that one way or another, it's going to be an outrageous amount of money. And...the vacation to blow our babies' minds and give us a gazillion memories.

I just saw a Disney Princess scrapbook at a store here that's just beautiful, and told DH if I had it under the tree at Christmas I could make up a beautiful scrapbook of our trip this time.

Cheers,

Kris

I only see passing mentions of it on the website. I'm not a big fan of Wonderland, really...a little too bizarre for my tastes, but Caroline does like Alice.

TIA,

Kris

The Wonderland Tea Party costs $30 per child, including tax. Adults aren't allowed and children must be at least 3 and potty trained to attend. It lasts an hour, and the kids are served a cupcake and chicken nuggets. The tea is apple juice and they get their picture taken with Alice and Mad Hatter. They play a few games and sing songs during the tea party. Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance. The sooner you can make a ressie, the better off you are, because it fills up quick, and they only allow 20 children per day.

I doubt we'll do that one, but at least it's "reasonably reasonable."

We ARE in for the Pirate adventure thinggy. My 6 yo will have a blast with that one.

:)

Probably about one dinner, or at most one dinner and one lunch, if you're eating on-site.

We're bringing in a lot of lunches, and eating breakfasts in the cabin (except for CRT, and our last day's breakfast at Artist Point, if the ressies work out), but it still adds up frighteningly quickly.

Good luck!!!

you're right! Doesn't bear thinking about! We've busy saving for 'spending money' as we speak

Having been shocked at the cost of the princess 'experience' I can quite see that I'd be tempted if my dd was a big fan! Luckily she'll only be 2 when we go and seeing Pooh and Co and the Crystal Palace will be just heaven for her (hopefully!)

Would love to hear a report and I hope that those of you attending have a very special time.

princess:

My dd and i will be doing this on august 23.There are many reasons to justify the cost.My children are 18,14,8 I own my own baby boutique in a resort town. All summer i work 12 hours a day 7 days a week waiting hand and foot on people,i dont have the luxury of taking the kids to the movies, the beach, the mall ,out to eat out for ice cream and so on.I see familys making memorys everyday. We do take a few disney trips each year because of our hard work so my dd has already done the pirate cruise, tea party, cooking class, neverland club, then this comes along a chance to do something with her, yes something that i would have loved to do as a child also .I do think it is pricey but i also like to spoil her seeing as im really not home during the summer.
My ds who is 18 cant always go on these trips anymore, between work sports and girlfriends it doesnt always work. This trip he cant come. With not having the cost of his A.P. renewal his food (he can eat) the shopping he does when there i could bring dd to the party a few times over.I would still take her even if dd was coming because i know how fast they grow up if i can give her this with no financial hardship then i have no problem with the cost.I will say if i had more than 2 dd's or really couldnt afford it i would not tell the kids about it ,i am lucky that i only have 1 that is young enough to go but old enough to remember it.I also ordered her the cindy dress in the new disney store catalog hows that for over board!
