Some may remember that I had a little trouble booking this online for my daughter and I because she is 11. I had no problem booking when calling direct and they actually accept children up to 12 years old for this event.
Please Note: Tables in Wonderland is not accepted at this event!
This event is held on certain mornings at the Grand Floridian Tea Room. We arrived at 10:15 to find a few girls and adults waiting. We didn't go into the tea room until everyone arrived and we had a picture taken with Rose Petal, our storyteller. The room was beautifully decorated and a My Disney Girl doll was waiting for my daughter at her seat. We also received a Princess Aurora charm bracelet, a necklace, and a crown, plus a bag to carry everything in. We met a very nice Mother and Daughter from Texas and had a great time.
First, we were served tea and apple juice. Daughter had a child sized tea pot and she loved it. Then we were served a plate of delicious sandwiches and fruit. Dessert was a slice of cake topped with a strawberry sauce. Everything was very good, very fresh, and very pleasant.
During our meal, Rose Petal told stories and sang songs accompanied by her musician friend, Mr. Branch. Then Rose Petal introduced Princess Aurora with a grand welcome from all the girls. Aurora visited each table and signed autographs, and each girl was presented a rose. At the end of the party, the girls lined up and paraded around the hotel. Be aware that they will not return to the tea room, but will go upstairs for a photo shoot near the gift shop. Upstairs they will also receive a "friend" certificate and stickers. Several of us moms weren't aware of that and were waiting downstairs for a while.
There were a couple of men that attended the party and Rose Petal made a special effort to incorporate them into her stories. All the girls were dressed in costumes of various princesses. My daughter opted instead for a fancy Easter dress. She fit in perfectly. Many girls were very shy and didn't want to participate. I do think a girl has to be older to be able to enjoy this and fully understand what's going on. Very young girls don't have the attention span to be able to sit quietly for 90 minutes and interact with the characters. While my daughter may have seemed too old at 11 years, she had a wonderful time and said she was so glad we did it. It will be a fond memory for both of us. It is expensive, but it was worth every penny to me
