My Disney Experience - mobile app question

I have no idea what board to post this question on, so Moderators please move if nec.
In trying to help my DS (20), who is currently at WDW on his first solo trip, I attempted to download MDE on to my cellphone. Figured I'd better do it anyway, since DH and I are heading there in April. To my surprise, my upgraded Samsung is telling me that my phone is not compatible with MDE? What the heck? My old, old cheap phone worked, now my 4G Galaxy S5 isn't compatible? I can't get anything bigger and better....I live in the boonies and we barely get reception up here. Tried to order a more modern phone and had to return it because we don't have the service to run it. Help!

I can’t remember which level operating system you need.

You can use the browser and login to the MDX website.

If your phone doesn't support the app, you'll have to use your internet browser and log in that way.

You're operating on a pretty old operating system.
the Samsung Galaxy S9 is coming out this year.
Even my S7 told me I needed to update my phone to support MDX a couple months ago.
If you can update the operating system on your phone MDX should work.
Otherwise you'll have to use your browser.

Thanks everyone! I'm stuck between location and modern technology. I can buy any phone I want but phone companies can't activate the new phones due to lack of upgraded service in my area....can't tell you how many phones we've had to send back that phone company has sent us knowing where we live and theoretically knowing it wasn't compatible with our service. Love life in the boonies, hate some of the technology challenges.

Completely off topic, but see if they'll send you a signal booster/range extender (assuming you have cable internet). I don't live in the boonies but live in a variable service zip code (and the phone company decided to eat the 300 dollars for the booster than lose a subscriber of 10+ years just because my new condo didn't get service) Granted it might not work if you're too far from a 4g tower...

Thanks Sponica but we can't even get cable....we are in the boonies! Satellite connections for everything. Again great living, sucky technology.

You probably just need to update your OS to the most recent version. Alternately you may be able to see if you can download an older version of the MDE app but then it may not include any features that may have been added to the app in recent app updates. Try updating the OS first.
