MY DIS/DDP Rant

Excuse me but I have yet to hear a story of Disney saying anything about sharing, besides illinformed CMs of course.

Since when is trying to fit the plan for ones need not allowed? That's like saying we cannot use 8 TS credit for 4 character meals because "Disney didn't intend it like that...".

It's not Disney's intentions that count, its ours. The paying customers'.

I know Disney's rules do. And there are no rules against sharing.

Where did I say anything about what Disney has said about sharing? Actually Disney does get to decide the rules for the plan.

As to misinformed CMs, let me see, the ones that said No sharing are misinformed, the ones that said sharing is allowed are not. How does that work exactly.

I have tried very hard to simply present my opinion, some information from Disney shared to me by friends, and keep the name calling out of it.

But I am truly tired of people half reading my comments and making statements that have absolutely nothing to do with anything I said.

As to misinformed CMs, let me see, the ones that said No sharing are misinformed, the ones that said sharing is allowed are not. How does that work exactly.

It works just the way sharing does. If you read around the forums you will see that people have used the plan in this manner without any complains for the servers or any other CMs. Remember, it's the waiters that really matter in this case, not support personnel.

I get it now. The only CMs that matter are those who say/do what you want.

Just because people have been able to use the plan this way, doesn't mean that's the way it was designed to be used.

Hey - In humor and a spirit of understanding, I posted my rant. Gots lots of silent voices to speak up.

Think the DDP is great, but definitely not for everyone. Sometimes we try to "overthink" to make a "deal" work that just won't for our various needs and habits.

We've now deteriorated into major defensiveness, misquoting and "camps". Totally un-DIS-like!

What part of the DIS have you been reading???

Once, on one of the DVC boards, someone suggested ending all threads at 4 pages, because at about that length most threads become one of those contests where everybody gets wet. I agree with that. A lot of longer threads are just a waste of bandwidth.

Seriously....what is the problem here. It is not rocket science.

Disney is NOT going to tell you...Yes, Yes, Yes, please share with your 4 year old daughter and save her credit for your future use. And Please, please, please, share your entire meal with your husband so that you can bank another credit to use later where you will also share.

If you contact a Random Disney CM who is put in a position to handle questions from people planning a vacation. That CM is going to tell you No, no, no. everyone has their own credits and there is no sharing. That is what they are supposed to tell you...it doesn't mean they are wrong...they are doing their job. Why get mad at them for it.


The problem lies within the vacationer themselves. Why can't the people just WAIT until they get to Disney and ask each individual server as they dine. Or, don't ask and just have one person order water I guess is another way to try it. Just ask when you get there. The only person that is going to allow or disallow you to share is the manager at each restaurant. You'll get your "real" answer the night you dine out.


And, I don't understand why people say...."Well how can they stop me from sharing at a CS place." Most of these debates have to do with Table service NOT counter service. So go and grab yourself one counter service meal and share with your husband and 2 kids....no one cares.

All credits must be used in a specific timeframe. Why should it matter if you want to eat less more often rather than a lot all at once. I see it as getting to sample a couple more restaurants and not wasting food. I'm not trying to cheat the system but trying to make it fit our lifestyle. I will not use a non-buffet TS adult credit on my DS11. He will waste the entire meal. When we eat out, DS11 gets an extra plate. I resent being labeled cheap because this is not about money. I thought the plan was "flexible" and could accomodate different families.

Actually, I went back and re-checked the thread, and the use of the term "name-calling" started on page 4. As is normal with the DIS, by page 4, everything worth saying on all sides of the issue has usually been said. From that point on, the threads tend to degenerate into a bunch of juvenile sniping between a handful of posters with virtually nothing of value being added to the discussion.

On this particular thread, I don't have any issue with controversy. OP called it a "rant" and rants usually generate counter-rants. In fact, they are an invitation to counter-rants. But once we get that out of our system, if I were a mod, I'd lock most of these things up.
