My DIL is a special Ed teacher in Maryland. In April a student transferred to her school and was placed in her class. (She only has 7 students.) He was beaten to death this Saturday:

While she wasn't his teacher for long, it's such a small class that she got to know him and is quite shaken by this terrible loss.

What a senseless tragedy. :sad1:

Oh Regina. What a senseless tragedy indeed.:sad1:

It must be so hard on your DIL and her other:grouphug: students, as well as this poor child's family..

This story is so sad. I live in MD (actually grew up in Crofton) and this is on the news constantly. The thought of my boys having to grow up scares me after seeing this.

What heartbreaking news! I am so sorry for the boy, his family and for your DIL...As a former teacher (special ed background as well), I can appreciate how sad it is. It is so tragic...
All will be in my prayers :grouphug:

Wow, sorry to hear that. I hope those two kids get life in prison for that. Me being the brother of a special ed student, that really makes me mad.

Oh Regina, that is just horrifying. Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with this world....

I feel so horrible to read this, and cannot imagine what he went through, and now how his family must feel.

I will keep them all in my prayers, and hugs to your DIL Regina. Teaching is such a noble profession and I am sure she is crushed.

I live in the same town as the student. DD14 attends the school Chris attended until he transferred out last month. Our whole town has been shaken up by this.

Thanks everyone. It is so sad that this boy's family transferred him in an attempt to get him away from this kind of thing. I can only imagine that they'll be living with regrets for the rest of their lives.

My DIL is doing better. She's such a sweet, caring soul. I'm so happy that our long-planned family trip to WDW is coming up at the end of the month. A smile from Mickey goes a long way when life's realities become difficult to bear.

Again, thank you all. :grouphug:
