My DH is leaving next Friday

I just found out today! I'm so mad, how can they tell you in a week and a half your leaving for four months?
I just came back from being with my family in Cali on the 8th. I would have stayed longer if I knew he was leaving within a few weeks of me being home.

I've never been alone with the kids, my DH helps me so much with them.
I need so good luck

Big and good luck to you. My DH left for his 6 month deployment about 15 days ago, we had about a months notice before he left. It was pretty tough for me the first few days he was gone, but now I have my daily routine keeping me sane. Good luck and I am sure you and your kids will be fine and Dh will be back before you know it.

Good luck to him and to you! In some ways, it's almost harder knowing for a longer period. I found out DH was leaving almost 9 months before he'll actually ship, so it's hard not to start a count down....and it's always in the back of my mind. I just want him to go already, and get it done with! But I'm sure you'll be fine with the kids and the 4 months will fly by!

Hang in there girl-you'll be fine-4 months sounds like a long time-but it will go by quick. And seriously-its better to find out and get it over with quick. For the last deployment we found out 30 days before DH left for 14 months-this time i have known since December he would be leaving for 12 to 15 months in Feb of next year-i would rather have it start and end sooner.

Dh is leaving next Sunday (Easter for us) for at least a year. We've known for about two months and it's been hard. We always thought that when he went, there wouldn't be so much time between finding out and leaving. This is our first deployment, and we have 4 kids, one just home from China in February.

We'll be keeping you and all deployed families in our thoughts.

from our family to yours. You'll get by and make the best of things. After all, we're military wives....that's what we do! I remember when DH got short notice he was deploying. They told him he was leaving in two days! And worst of all, me and my son were out of town. We flew back home that night! ( We were suppose to come back the same day he left.) Honestly though, it was easier then when I had four months to wait and ponder for DH yearlong remote tour to begin.

Good luck to you. You'll surprise yourself with how much strength you have!

Welcome to the military! Honestly though...DH ALWAYS find out he's leaving 3-4 months ahead of time, and trust me, it is pure torture. I honestly can say I hate the waiting game - finding out so far in advance and just waiting until the day he leaves, more then I hate the actual deployment itself. If he were to find out a few days before he left, I think I would much rather that then having to think about a deployment coming up for 4 months. DH also always deploys for 4 months as well. It will go by quickly. Just stay busy. You have kids, so they should keep you occupied. You think being alone with your kids is hard? Try being on a deployment by yourself. Now that REALLY blows. Just be grateful its not longer then 4 months. Army and Marines - 12-15 month deployments.

I've had it both ways, Dh found out 3 days out he was deploying for 6 months after 11 days after dd was born. His orders to go remote for a year was dropped 18 months out....yikes. I think I'd prefer somewhere in between.
