My DH took his brother on a post divorce trip to WDW - my BIL had a witch of a wife who spent seven years trying to keep him from his family - now she is no longer the wife. So my DH wanted some time with just his brother and took off on a long weekend.

So I asked him where his room is - they booked late - so ended up with a preferred view room. Their's overlooks Luna Park.

He said "Its handicapped. When we checked in the room we were supposed to be in wasn't clean yet, and the CM spent some time poking around trying to get us a room."

My husband asked him what the problem was and he said "the only rooms I'm showing ready are handicapped."

My husband said "OK, we don't care."

The CM was visably relieved, "Really, wow, most people get their nose out of joint when we put them in a handicapped room."

Its just DH and BIL in a studio - no children needing a tub. But this does make us two for three on HA rooms. Also puts us at two for three on getting our non-smoking request.

A few comments from "between the lines" -

1. It appears that "the room we have assigned to you isn't ready" does mean that there is some preassigning going on.

2. At least this CM was making a somewhat concerted effort NOT to stick my husband in a handicapped room.

All those people who are grateful that there are people like us willing to take the HA rooms should feel free to send their appreciation via chocolate.

I'd love to show my appreciation...

Call your husband and tell him to avoid the Great Movie ride. She might be in it!! :teeth:

Ding Dong... The witch is dead, the witch is dead, the witch is dead...
Ding Dong, the wicked witch is dead!

Congrats to your BIL! I'm been singing this song a lot recently, but for a very different reason!

Anyway, I hope they enjoy their stay at the BWV! And a big thanks for taking that handicapped room! :thumbsup2

Hmm ? Is it because you booked late the other time as well ? Or chekced in late ? It's great your dh and bil were so gracious about it. It's also such a nice thing for your dh to do for his brother :thumbsup2 Glad to hear he's out of that relationship. Hope they have a great stay and make sure they toast to the divorce :drinking1

No, we booked right at 11 months the first time and checked in at 1:00 and got a HA room. That time it was without warning. It was also smoking. So that was 0 for 0 on requests. But it was a two bedroom, so even though we had kids, we still had the tub, and I didn't realize it was a smoking optional room until I noticed the door sign midway through the trip, so that obviously wasn't an issue. (After a few years of experience, I suspect the CM checking me in moved me into a HA room and didn't say anything because I don't seem like a complainer - and I'm not)

The second time we booked SV, non-smoking, high floor. We were on the first floor, non-smoking, non-HA - turned out great with kids who are growing gills! Will request first floor again for that reason.

This time he booked about six months out, only view left was preferred, arrived about 5:00pm.

rinkwide, thanks for trying for that chocolate. Augustus is so greedy he probably books prime time rooms and rents them on eBay. ;)

GASP... He wouldn't, would he? Sounds like something Violet would do. ;)

BTW, if you need the assistance of a "complainer" to help secure a room request next time you check in, I'm your huckleberry.

Nah, I can complain when I need to - I really don't see room requests worth complaining about (except a really smokey room - don't like those). Distance to the elevators, handicapped, floor - don't really care.

It's good for brothers to help out each other, now and then.
