....he asked me what I was hoarding $$ for... and I said I like to think of it as a Disney fund and he said, "How about a front door fund?" and then he took more than half of it.:( I'm so sad. There wasn't that much in there, but when I looked at the balance today I wanted to cry. Anybody else got a "practical" spouse like this?

Are you the practical spouse or is your dh, Lorelei?;) It sounds to me like you are since you have your priorities in order.:teeth:

LOL Shannon! That is the reason I DIS- people with like minds are here!!

:earseek: Doesn't he know, that is grounds for divorce!!

Make him pay it back!! With interest!!::yes::

Oh no, my dh would never take money I was saving for Disney.
But than again if we needed a new door, there would also be a new door fund going. ::yes::

DH would lose his 3rd leg if he took money like that! I wish there was a shaking fist smiley. I always get the urge to use a shaking fist smiley but I haven't found one!

sorry to hear about your disney fund!!! I hide my fund from my dh then when i say i have an extra $$$$ he is always suprised and wants to know how i saved it. I tell him it my little secret!:rolleyes1 the only bad thing is now he comes to expect that i have saved all the money and doesnt' help me in the saving department:worried:

Sounds to me like it's high time to set up a little fund in just your name.....

NEVER let a DH know that you have secret stash! Mine is always hidden and even when it's time to use it I don't let him know! He just doesn't pay that much attention.....maybe That is why he thinks money goes so far! He also thinks I'm a great bargain hunter! I always seem to be getting some great deal or something free! LOL;)

That's why I do all the books! DH doesn't even know how much he makes anymore, thanks to direct deposit :teeth:

He asks if we can afford things and I tell him yes or no....

Bad thing, though...I'm a shopper so I have to discipline myself when it comes to spending :(

I hide so much each month. Then when it is time for our trip everything is paid for and we can relax. My husband says he likes for me to do it that way but he doesn't want to know how I do it. He asks like I am on a secret covert operation!

MEESHI!!! I LOVE IT!!! THANK YOU!!!!

That's why I am in charge of the money and DH gets an allowance each week. He doesn't even know his pin #.:p :teeth: He says 'You can have it all.' What a guy!:teeth:

I have a "practical"(translate-no fun) spouse, too. He saw the statement for my "Vacation" account that has quite a bit of money in it, and had a fit. "Why don't we put it towards the equity line?"(answer, because we will just run up the equity line again, and then we will not have this money.) I have been saving all my change for 6 years, and put all "found" money into this account-rebate checks, my birthday checks, etc. Let's just say I could treat the family to a really nice Disney cruise for a week and still have plenty left over. I know it's too much, but if I give it to him, he'll do something PRACTICAL with it!!!:earseek:

For everyone who says to "hide the $$ better" that's just the thing, I don't want to "hide" the money. If we "needed" a front door is a matter of perspective, the door we had worked just fine.

This is money I got for my birthday, change I have been scrounging and rolling, money my Mom gave me for Mother's Day and a bit out of my check when I could spare it. That sort of thing. He took 2/3 of it for the new door. It's a pretty door, but in my opinion it could have come out of our general savings account.

Now I feel like I'm starting all over again.:(
