When I have spent the last hour mowing the 6-inch high grass before it rains again and blowing off the entire driveway and the gutters, do not stand on the porch in all your fresh, cooled-off, air conditioned glory and point out the area that also needs dethatching. That is all .

I know you worked a long hard day out in the heat yesterday. I also know you needed that cold shower as soon as you got home. I also know that I will never pick up the stinky socks and dirty underwear you left on the sink in the bathroom. I love you lots but am not your slave. Just sayin.

He sounds like my dad when I had to cut his grass one whole summer when he had bypass surgery! He would sit out there and tell me the spots I missed.

There were roofers on the house next to my parents one day as I was cutting the grass and one of the men pointed to a spot I missed from the roof when my dad went inside. The were all laughing so hard I thought they were going to fall off! After cursing them out, I had to laugh with them. :lmao:

But as for my husband saying this .... that would be the last time I cut the grass.

Oh, that would have really chapped me  I woulda laid their ears back. Unfortunately, there is no one else who can cut the grass at my house. DH can't do it(heart/lung disease) and DD17 can't do it(broken foot.) When he said that, I just looked at him like  and dropped my equipment. to his credit, he did pick up the blower and tried to blow some of the debris off for a few minutes. I think he realized how it came across when he saw how red-faced I was (get very red when I work in the heat.) I felt better after a cool shower and shaving my legs.

Oh I'm sorry but that man doesn't deserve shaved legs!!!

Reminds me of this past weekend -- the whole family spent about four hours taming the landscaping around the house. It was hot, backbreaking, sweaty work. After my time, I came in and figured I was already hot and sweaty, so I cleaned the downstairs for about an hour. Take a shower. Collapse.

Hubby walks in the room and asks, "So, what's for dinner?" :scared1: Mmmm, don't think I'll be standing and cooking tonight, dear. :lovestruc

You girls are so hard on us sometimes. The guys just want decent looking lawns. That's not too much to ask, is it?

No wonder we drop dead before you.

Dh likes a perfect lawn, will every once in a while decide the kids need to cut the grass, they cut the grass but then their "lines" aren't straight enough so he gets mad and later complains that the kids never cut the grass :lmao::lmao::lmao: We humor him.

This whole thread had me in stitches!!!

:lmao:

And I'm with kristilew. I have actually never touched a lawnmower. Ever.

Not sure DH would still be alive after that comment...:rotfl2:

FYI - I have found that if you break a couple lawn mowers and/or mow over a few things..., that stops DH from asking me to mow the lawn.

My husband's solution?...buy ME a brand new lawnmower and remind me to pick up anything on the lawn before I mowed it..lol

This thread had me cracking up..thanks for the laughs!

You're giving up way too many secrets.

We might just get wise to what's going on.

I don't mow the lawn that often but when I do, my dh always asks how many glasses of wine I had before I mowed because the lines are perfectly straight. I usually just say something like "after I mow our yard has character" and he'll just roll his eyes. It's become a bit of a joke between the two of us. One of these days I'm going to mow designs into the yard.

My DH used to tell me that I mowed the lawn "too high, too low", too whatever. I told him "You tell me one more time how to mow the lawn and you will be doing it yourself" I haven't heard anything since then. We both work and I take care of all the chores inside and out. He gets the cars and the upkeep on the engines. But I will happily hand over anything that doesn't meet his high standards :rotfl:

That doesn't seem quite fair to me, I'd be reshuffling that work load. In our house we both work and for the most part I take care of the inside while he does the outside.

:lmao: Ya'll are cracking me up. I guess after 29 years it's too late to "unlearn" everything, right?
