So for all the posts i see about comparing DDP vs. OOP, I never see any data.

First off, I am a believer in the DDP, but have yet to pay for it

I THOUGHT we could beat the DDP by sharing meals, but no way. As you will see below, I listed 4 TS meals worth 1 TS point on the DDP. I then put down the meal costs as we would order for the adults, and put the kids down at $0 for sharing off our plate. I included beverages for all, tax and tip.

Keep in mind that the DDP for our family of four, 2 adults and 2 kids between 3-9, totals $102 per day. This $102 includes 1 CS, 1 TS, Beverages at meals, 1 snack, 1 Dessert per person per day. The OOP Chart is to tally just 1 TS meal, with only 2 adult entrees and beverages for all. Only 1 meal came out less than the DDP is for a whole days worth of food.

You are only considering your one meal ,dessert and snack. You didn't factor in your counter service meal with dessert and drink that would be included in the dining plan.

I've seen some threads over on the Dining Plan board where people have compared their actual receipts to their dining plan costs. You might want to check some of those out.

Tip is no longer included in the DDP, it was removed for 2008, you'll need to remove it from your calculations.

I came out ahead on the DDP and hadn't even figured up two CS or any snacks. We were about $10 ahead at that point just by me looking at the TS restaurants we want and what I think we'll eat and the same for CS.

I think PP was just trying to show that for his family, the DDP is great b/c the cost of the DDP is typically less than their TS meal alone. We had that happen a few times on my calculations.

A close looks shows that even with the tip, the family total was less on TWO restaurants rather than one. The OP says it costs $102 per day and only one came out less but the OP lists Spoodles at $65 and The Wave at $95.

Once you remove tip, you get the following:

Total DDP cost per day: $102

TS Dinner O'Hana Polynesian $85
TS Dinner Spoodles Boardwalk $54
TS Dinner The Wave Contemporary $80
TS Dinner California Grill Contemporary $93

Not slamming the DDP here but if numbers are used, they should be accurate. And I'm assuming all individual numbers provided by the OP are.

I've done just this. We passed on the DDP and charged every item to the KTTW. When I totaled everything later-- using all slips so I knew what the KTTW charges represented-- we saved significantly by paying OOP. That even included a few beers that the DDP wouldn't include. I was a bit surprised, but it turned out to be that sometimes we shared a CS meal or didn't want a TS-- although we had 6 or 7 nice TS (Kona x 2, CP, Le Cellier...) in a 10 night stay.

That said, OP, I think it is all about knowing what your family will probably want to eat. I imagine a 3 YO sharing would be fine, but how old are your kids (you just say between 3 and 9)? You'd probably need to buy a meal for them unless they really don't eat much. Therefore the savings would really be greater.

Being a numbers junkie myself, you have the right idea. It is simple enough to determine by the available menus if the DDP is cost effective for your family. It can be a great deal if you eat regular meals and the ages of your children (and therefore the cost for them) balances their appetite I've run the numbers so often it makes me loopy, but for us, even with the QSDP, the numbers are so close (difference of only $1-2/day for 4 of us) that I can't see pre-paying in our case.
