my dd was drunk last night...but called for a ride(UPDATE pg2)

I was going to quote the same section that Snoopy did. It brought tears to my eyes.

You and your entire family have so much to be proud of.

My father is a retired policeman, and I can remember him always saying "The worst thing in the world to have to do is ring a parent's doorbell at 2AM".

Yep, happened to my BIL & SIL last May. Then the relatives get the call a few hours later. :(

I think you handled it well. Hopefully she learned a lesson.

It sounds like you handled it very well and that you are doing a good job raising your daughter. :)

What a great story....I have tried making this point with my kids now in hopes when they are in need in they will call too.

I'm so glad your dd called...

You are great parents ....

Great job poohandwendy, I think you handled it just right!

Your rules are the same ones that I grew up under - call if you need us, no matter where you are or what time it is, no recriminations.

The ability to call for "help"made all the difference in the way I handled such situations.

I know it's already been quoted...but I had to quote it again. Just Fabulous! I hope you don't mind if I save this to use with my children one day.

You have handled this soooo well.

Oh Blondie, I am so sorry to hear that. It happens too often, and to really good kids with good families. All kids make mistakes, sometimes those mistakes cost us dearly. It is really scary being a parent.

I've heard it said, "little kids little problems...big kids bigger problems". It really is true. There are so many decisionsto make and one simple mistake, at the blink of an eye, can cause a horrific, permanent loss.

Sometimes I wish I could put my kids back into the playpen or highchair and play 'this little piggie' or "peek-a-boo"...I had so much more control over how things went back then, or so it seemed.
I hope you don't mind if I save this to use with my children one day.
LOL, not at all. I'm honored that you would want to. It is the truth. Sometimes it is important to say the things we think they should already know. And keep repeating it and repeating it.....they need to hear it more than we know.
