My DCP Questions! :)

Hi all, I have a few questions about the DCP. Planning to apply in fall and I am collecting info.

1.) Does the application ask if you know anyone that works at Disney? And if you know someone does that works there, in a high upish position do you have a better chance? I ask because someone else claimed that helped them.

2.) Any idea how many hospitality positions are open? I'm hoping to get one as I am a hospitality major, with catering/events/front desk job experience.

3.) What's parking like? Designated spaces or free for all?

4.) Anyone that has stayed in non wellness apartments, are the roommates In their early to mid twenties as well or often they are even older?

5.) Just to be clear, on the WBI you want to answer strongly agree or strongly disagree on most to all questions, correct?

6.) Does anyone have a link or an idea as to what the pay is for the various jobs?

7.) Are there any recent blogs/trip reports about the DCP? Something similar to Frump Style but I'm sure nothing else will be nearly as informative.

During your phone interview, you can strongly emphasize that you're a hospitality major and skills. I'm not sure about how many positions are open no one knows.

I heard parking isn't designated.

I heard the roommates are 21 and older.

5.) Just to be clear, on the WBI you want to answer strongly agree or strongly disagree on most to all questions, correct?
Strongly agree and strongly disagree. DON'T PICK THE MIDDLE ANSWER. Disney wants you to be 100% sure and confident in your answers. They want assertive people who are willing to take charge and make the parks extra magical!
6.) Does anyone have a link or an idea as to what the pay is for the various jobs?
Expect between $7.93-11. It really depends on your role and other things. I know someone who got the same role as me and they are going to make $2 more than me.

Strongly agree and strongly disagree. DON'T PICK THE MIDDLE ANSWER. Disney wants you to be 100% sure and confident in your answers. They want assertive people who are willing to take charge and make the parks extra magical!

To me that would be a tip off that you're trying to game the system. *NOBODY* is 100% for or against, agree or disagree about *EVERYTHING*. True, answering the middle answer on too many will come across as wishy-washy, but not having answers spread across the spectrum to me just screams "I'm trying to fake it so you like/pick me".

I don't think so. If you know what you like and what you believe in; your opinions and values are going to be strong.

Well....Disney World is the epitome of hospitality. Almost every position requires you to hospitable to people in some way. So do you mean like concierge? Quick Service Food? Full Service Restaurants? or what? Either way there's thousands of open jobs.

In the housing complexes you park wherever you want as long is your car is registered and has a housing sticker.
At work locations: the parks have designated employee lots. The resorts (at least where i worked) have designated parking spots marked in yellow, usually in the back of the main lot. You'll learn where you can park during your orientation



6.) Does anyone have a link or an idea as to what the pay is for the various jobs?

From what I understood while I was there, regular CPs made $7.65/hr and Culinary CPs made $8.45/hr. I thought that was the set pay rates for DCP but maybe not I could understand someone like a life guard getting paid more. And i know florida minimum wage has gone up to $7.95/hr since my program ended so you'll at least be making that much.

Almost every role has a different pay rate, based on the union base pay for the role minus a little bit.

Hospitality is what they for some reason call front desk CPs. There aren't a whole lot of spaces for that comparatively.

I thought CPs didnt have union representation. When i was there, we had a union rep hanging out in our break room one day and she told me CPs dont really have union rights. So disney would pretty much control all CP pay rates right?

CP's aren't entitled to Union representation. However, their pay rate is determined through the negotiated Union Contract for their specific role.

Hospitality positions are hard to get in. I was a hospitality major & never got one. My 1st job was QSFB & 2nd job was attractions. It may help if you have a lot of hotel experience beforehand.

Parking is first come first serve no reserved parking.

Most of my roommates were early 20s. A guy across the hall was 30 but that was it. He ended up becoming to be a good friend. Try not to stress about it.
