She got a composite score of 26; English 30; Math 25; Reading 27 and Science 23. Should she retake next year as a senior? Does the ACT count only correct answers - should she leave answers blank next time if she is unsure or should she not leave any answers blank?

Thanks!

Should she retake? Doesn't that depend on where she wants to go to college? She should look at the acceptance scores for her top college choices.

I did a quick surf through the internet and this is what I found. The ACT website listed the 2003 average as 20.8 out of 36. The college board website said that's the equivalent of an SAT score of 1180 out of 1600.

I think 26 is very respectable. Remember a perfect score is 36 (I think). She may want to retake for scholarships--I remember I had a 29 composite and several places said I did not qualify for scholarships because 29 was their cutoff. I have one boy this year in class who got a 34 and already has a free 4 year ride to the honors program at Ohio State.

26 is quite respectable but I would encourage her to retake it and to take the SAT-schools look at the highest scores on both and if she is looking for scholarships at any major universities she will likely need to be 30 or higher.

Yes I would tell her to retake it! I went to a Private School and we took it our 10th, 11th and 12th grade years. I improved by 2 points each year!

10th grade I had a 24,

11th a 26

and 12th a 28 which is where I stopped. I had a full scholarship to a local college once I passed the 24! But I think its very very likely she will improve even more if she takes it again. A 26 is a good score though!

I had a girl in my class make a 33 and she ended up at Stanford...although not on a full scholarship.

got like a 26, her mom got her a tutor and she brought it up to 32. It helped get her a scholarship.

Like the others have said, it's a good score, but there is room for improvement, it sure wouldn't hurt. congrats to your dd. :)

A 26 is not a bad score, but I would definatly have her re-take it in the fall. It won't hurt and most scores take the highest, not most recent score.
