We are leaving Thursday morning and I was getting some things together and going through everything and I noticed that my 5 year old daughter is listed as a boy on her airtran ticket. My other daughter who is 2 was fine. I called the airline and Disney because we bought our tickets through them and they both assured me that everything would be fine, but I am still worried that it won't be. Has anyone else had this happen?

I fly often with the kids and haven't every had the sex on the ticket so I am not famiiliar. Is it a name that can be either boy/girl by any chance? I have noticed that they security personnell are engaging my girls more than in the past when they check my id. The past 4 times we have flown the person has asked them to please state their full name to check against the ticket. DH and I of course had to show photo id.

Even though you don't generally need it this may be a case where you would want to bring along the birth certificate (or passport if you have one) just in case.

Good Luck

Often times, they will ask your children who the adult their traveling with is (in relation) to them. This is usually a pretty effective way of getting a story straight, because little kids are terrible at lying!! Back to the subject, I wouldn't worry about it. Its pretty obvious (even to TSA Security :p ) which sex your children are...

Last time we went they had me listed as a man...I had to literally pitch a fit to get them to change it. I called and spoke to three different CM's who all told me it would be fine. I even called Memphis International and the lady said she was "fairly sure" it would be OK. But I just wasn't comfortable with "fairly sure". In the end, it was good that I did pitch a fit. Atlanta wanted me to change seats so a couple could sit together and I was relaying the story to the attendant while we were waiting for the change to take effect. She told me that I more than likely would not have been allowed on the plane (at least in Atlanta). Whether or not she was right, I don't know, but she made me feel better about getting it changed.

But you're talking about a child so it might be a completely different set of circumstances. For me, they had to cancel the current ressie and re-do it (which is probably why they didn't want to in the first place). Go with your gut...if it bothers you, have it fixed. I'm glad I did. Good luck!

Well now I have a really stupid question.... maybe anyway.

I didn't think I'd be receiving any "tickets" per se booked with Airtran?

I assumed since it was booked online (mine anyway) and I am to check-in online, I will just print boarding passes or something?

I'd love to get paper tickets, as we are surprising my sister for her first time flying. Any thoughts or clarifications?

ETA: OP... if you did not get a clear answer yet, and I hijacked your thread PLEASE let me know. I replied without even thinking about it! :listen:

To tink2020:
AirTran does not use paper tickets. The confirmation number you received when you booked is all you need. You can get online and pick out your seats and print your boarding passes starting 24 hours before your flight. You can also use the kiosks at the airport.
