I get older kids I think after 13 then should be done, I used to still play with Barbie dolls at 11, imagine a girl doing that now at that age...tell her to be careful and watch out for nuts, just go to people she knows. They should be able to still enjoy lifes little things that we all grew up with, in my eyes 11 is still a young kid. :D

No. My 13y/o DS hasn't stopped yet.
It is "normal" in this area.

Dan, I just don't care for the whole trick or treating thing. I don't celebrate halloween but even when I did do it as a child I did it because my parents thought it was fun not because I wanted to. Knocking on strangers doors and in essence claiming I was going to do something bad to them if they didn't give me candy never seemed like fun to me.

My DD is going to be 11 in November, at first she wasnt going to go, she was just going to walk with us and the other kids, but she just got a costume today. I went out till I was about 13-14.

I told both of my kids that 13 was their last year. I think high schoolers are too old. A bunch of them roaming, without costumes, is a little intimidating.

My friends and I trick-or-treated until we were 17. :o I did go all-out with elaborate costumes though, and we were always very polite - nobody ever had a problem. Halloween is fun. :p

Is this a good time to say that I'm 44, going to MNSSHP and planning on getting a little candy out of the deal?

So did my youngest DSD Amey! :D :D She too went all out, was very polite and people loved to see her and her friends because they enjoyed the day so much.

Ten is not too old. :D

LOL Zurg!!! Yes, this would be a good time to say that!!:p

Jason, my dd is 12 and is still going out! Ten is still so young! Kids around here generally go out until around 8th grade...you have a few more good years!

Are you sure your just 44 zurg?????:D :D :D

Kids in our area definatly go out till at least 13 if not older...it is just common practice...

No, not too old. Does she want to?

No, 10 is not too old. My rule is if you don't dress up you can't go. If you want to outfit yourself to try and receive chocolate ah well...I understand that philosophy.

DS10 hasnt been doing much trick or treating since he was 8. I brought him to the neighboring town where his godmother lives and we would go to many clustered houses. However, last year and this year Ive had to work. He does go in our neighborhood w/DH but that is only 17 other houses. I really dont want the candy hanging around the house anyways since we leave for our cruise in 6.5weeks and I would sneak into any candy left here.
Im taking him to a few museums, zoos, etc that have Halloween celebrations during the next few weekends. He'll be getting some there too.
But no he doesnt go out for hours on end anymore. That ended when he was 8.
