I am just flabbergasted.... I am likely going to have to cancel my trip at the end of the week. My husband has had some work stuff come up, and he won't be able to go.

We will obviously be out the cost of our flight, and the cost of the DAP party. I don't even know what will happen to our DVC points... I have never looked into it... Also... we booked a candlelight dinner package, will we have to pay for that?

There is a possibility that we will still go, but a lot of things are going to have to fall into place, and it doesn't seem like it will happen.

I am so upset about this... I thought you guys would understand... I am trying to be mature, because I know that he can't help it, and I know that work comes first...

Sometimes it sucks being an adult...

Is there any way you can get someone to go with you other than your DH? Wishing you lots of magic that things work out.

I have thought about it, but I could NEVER do that to my husband. He would never say it, but he would be very upset if I went without him. Believe me I have thought about it though!

I hope things work out for you.

If you cancel your DVC reservation at least a day before check-in (but less than 30 days) your points go into Holding. You have to use them within 60 days or the end of your Use Year, whichever is sooner. You can only use them for a DVC reservation, or you can still use an exchange so long as the checkin is within 60 and its at least 60 days away from the end of your Use Year.

I believe for CP, as long as you cancel at least 24 hours prior they do not charge.

Hope thing work out so you can still come... Fingers and toes crossed.

:santa:

Thanks :-) My husband is from Rochester Hills. His parents still live there, and we visit ALL the time!

Well that's where I am now...I'll send a great big bright bunch of hope and cheer from the Big Bright Lights downtown tomorrow!

I'm so sorry to hear this. Sending good thoughts your way.

Hoping things work out for you and that you'll still be able to join us

Just to be clear, they have to be used by the end of your current use year and you can only make a reservation with them 60 days out from your intended date of travel. So you wouldn't have to use them in the next 60 days (unless you have a Feb use year in which case it'd be less than 60 days) but you can't book a trip in March with them right now either. If you wanted to book for March 1 you'd have to wait until around January 1.

Here's hoping it doesnt' even matter and you get to take your trip as planned! :wizard:

Are you pretty friendly with other people here on the Dis? Just last month, the day of our trip, DH came home from the doctor with a "do not fly" recommendation. I was meeting my sister at BCV and had to make a quick decision and flew to Orlando alone  DH wanted me to go.
Would your husband be ok with you going? I'm sure other Dissers would be happy to take you under their wings and keep you company. Good luck with all this! It's a tough decision ... :)

Yes, thanks for the clarification...I think I confused myself when I wrote it... :)

I haven't read the replies and any updates that might have been posted, but wanted to say go without him! I am going solo! :)

If you have to cancel your candlelight processional package you will not be charged so long as you cancel at least 48 hours in advance. So the sooner the better for that.

I agree with Nikki why not go on your own. This way you will lose less money as well. Talk it over with your husband and see what he says.

Good luck and sorry this happened.
