My dad will need an ECV. Have questions.

Going to Disneyland on Monday with my family. My parents decided it would be fun to join in and we were shockingly able to get a reservation for them on a one park.

However dad is still recovering from nerve damage in his left leg and will need an ecv for the day. Was hoping to pick peoples brains here on a few things because a tour around the internet has my head spinning.

1. Do we have to reserve an ecv ahead of time or is it something we can handle day of?
2. He isn’t able to stand for long periods of time. What type of accommodations can we expect for that? Does he take the ecv in the line? How would that work for something with a tight line like alice? Or something like haunted or rise where the ride boarding/deboarding are separate from each other?

1. Cannot reserve, first come, first serve and they do run out, so best to start your day early.
2. Some rides will allow a scooter in line, some will have him transfer to a wheelchair that he or a member of your party will need to push, and some will have you enter through a special entrance (typically the exit), you may be sent immediately to the special entrance, or given a return time (which you will be able to see on the Disneyland app) to come back to the special entrance later. They will move the scooter for you from boarding to exit when necessary.

If you're getting an ECV at the park, you can't do this in advance, only the day of your visit. ECV's can run out, so if you're not arriving at park open, it's possible they might all be reserved.

ECV's can be reserved from off-site vendors, but if you're local I'm not sure how the process works. I used Deckert's in the past and they delivered to the hotel I was staying at. I've used them several times and have always been happy with their ECV's and the service they provide.

For rides where the queues can't handle ECV's, you can go to the attraction and a cast member will give you a return time approximately equal to the current standby time. Then he and the rest of your party comes back at the designated time to an alternate entrance. For example, at Peter Pan you come back to the exit area, park the ECV and enter through the exit when the CM tells you to. Pirates is similar, except that you take your ECV in through the exit because there is enough area to park the ECV close to where you board. If you arrive and Disneyland is out of ECV.
You could call Select Scooter and see if they have one for you to rent.

They are located in the lobby of the Best Western Park Place Inn on Harbor, right there at the crosswalk into DL. It would be easy to pop over to get one from them if you need to.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Super helpful. I told them they need to show up early, so hopefully they will get there before they sell out.

It sounds like rides are a case by case basis.

Just wanted to update this thread. Got an ECV easily enough. My sister got it when she got to the park and then drove it out to meet them at the tram.

All the cast members were so accommodating, dad was really touched.

Also! Deboarding Haunted Mansion was awesome!

You could call Select Scooter and see if they have one for you to rent.
This is the company I use for my trips to DLR and have always been happy with their equipment and service.
They are located in the lobby of the Best Western Park Place Inn on Harbor, right there at the crosswalk into DL. It would be easy to pop over to get one from them if you need to.

Thank you for your recommendation, on occasion I need an ECV due to different health issues and good to know a DISer recommended them !

I like that they will deliver to my hotel if I need them too.
However, there are a few hotels they can not deliver to.

I have been known to fly down just for the day and since it's in the BWPPI lobby right at the cross walk it's easy to have the taxi drop me off at their location. I grab my scooter and head off to DL for the day.

They have a name tag on the scooter so you know which one is yours. Plus I take a Neon Yellow ribbon to tie on to the handle for easy spotting in case the CM's have to move it while I'm on the ride.
