So very sorry for your loss. Judging by your post it was a sudden and surprising passing which makes it even harder. You and your family and in my thoughts and prayers.

I don't even know why I am on the DIS boards. I just couldn't sleep all night and I have nobody to talk to. I'm sorry for this thread. I just needed to say something.

Don't be sorry about posting it on here. I'm glad you decided to share the sad news with us, this post gives you a chance to grieve and share thoughts and feelings that you might not want to share in front of your children for fear of upsetting them more.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I lost my dad very suddenly last year, so I've stood where you stand. It's never easy to lose a parent, but when it's sudden and unexpected (which it sounds like this was), it leaves a lot of loose ends that take a while to tie up. Just take it a little at a time.
I hope you and your DD's have the opportunity to spend the day together today and just comfort each other.

Kids are amazingly resilient. They just want YOU to be okay. If they see that you'll be okay, they will be.

Find time to be alone and cry, though. Surprisingly, getting THEM thru it can be therapy for you.

I lost my dad earlier this year and know how you must be feeling right now. I did buy a book for my kids (I think it was something like "We Miss You" and also a book for myself (Chicken Soup for the Grieving Soul). Both were very helpful.
