We're tight on money right now, and my dad is being real generous.
He bought me a camera for about 200 dollars.
And Sony Vegas for 80.

Me and my mom went to the grocery store.
She wont even buy me an air freshener. [I cant spell that]

She thinks were gonna die or something if we waste 10 dollars.
Well! Mybad if I want my room to smell good.
[Not that it smells bad, xD. But I found a berry thing. Ahhh smells so good.]

How about we put it into this perspective.

You'll probably use the camera, and that Sony thing.
Air freshener you'll use when you want to smell it, you'll run out, and probably want more.
And besides it's Air Freshener, why make the big deal about not having it?

I agree with the post before.
Also if you want it that bad...just save up $10
Does this really require a thread....?

Okay,so if you're tight on money, why is your dad buying expensive gifts?

And if you were going to get the air freshner just to have it,well then I agree with your mom.

my parents are doing the same thing...

I really don't get it...

Think about it.
Ya know how gas prices and food prices go up?
Your parents salary stays the same.
Something's gotta give.

Oh no i get that...I don't get why my dad will spend a load of money on me when i am just looking at something and say i dont need it...We have no money to spare and he still wants me to have the best i guess...
And my mom...I give up getting stuff so my sister can and my brother...I'll give up movies with my friends so she can get soemthing she wants...So i do that volentarly

Exactly.
My dad buys me everything.
And i dont want to have it JUST to HAVE it.
is it really that TERRIBLE that i want my room to smell nice?

Honestly, it sounds like your dad is overcompensating.
He knows you can tell things are tight, so he wants to show you that it's really all okay and just have you happy.

And it sounds like you're mom's being the realistic one.
If I ask to go out to dinner and my mom says, "No, we're putting your brother through college and really don't have the money right now," I know things ARE tight, otherwise she wouldn't say something like that.
And I don't push it and try to make her feel bad.
She probably already feels guilty I can't get everything I want right when I want it like some things, and I know her and my dad work very hard to support and raise me, my brother, and my sisters.

Next time, maybe tell your dad you don't need material things to make you happy.
And think about it. How much is having a berry-scented room vs. a plain-smelling room really gonna impact you?
Parents are human, they have flaws, too.
Just take it as it is and don't go into some guilt trip over some thing you won't care about in thirty minutes.

Possibly. Your family is tight on money, an air freshener is the last thing you need. Just squirt some body spray or something, that's what I do.

$ 10 REALLY does add up if your buying pointless thing's when your tight on money.
If your tight on money though, why is your dad buying you expensive things?

This sounds exactly like my parents. My dad buys a lot of things even though he knows we are tight on money. I think he just wants it to seem like everythings ok, so he buys a bunch of junk that we really don't need.

My mom is definitely the saver, but she's the one who actually deals with all the bills and the money. So she knows exactly how tight we are, and it really stresses her out. I know that usually I don't help much, because I ask for money quite often.

I think that you should give your mom a little break. I would rather have food on my table and a roof over my head than a berry-scented room. And if you really want it, save up the 10 bucks and buy one for yourself.

p.s. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, because I often ask for things I don't need. I'm just saying maybe think about the way your mom feels.

I think you need to realize how much our economy is failing. ALL PRICES are getting higher. Even $10 will add up and will help. Spending it on something you don't need is just a waste, it could go towards gas money.

You need to sit your dad down and tell him to stop buying you un-necassary things. If you really feel like you don't want them, especially. Tell him you are fine with money being tight, it's just how things are now. He doesn't need to protect you from that fact anymore. Tell him that.

And honestly, if you want a smelly room just spray some perfume of throw some baby powder into the air. Would you rathar have a air freshener or gas for the family car? Think about that, it puts it in perspective.

Well he's getting me technology I need.
Im a techno girl. Computer geek.
He buys me stuff I need.
He just needs to stop until we get money.
But were doing better, my dad just got a check for like 50,000 dollars last month:)

I'd definitely say you were doing better! $50,000 is a lot of money.

I guess 'tight on money' doesn't mean the same to your family as it does to most of us.

You're lucky, enjoy your life with your parents now because when you get older you probably won't be getting many 50,000 dollar checks. :)

Actually its not THAT good.
Were in debt about 100,000 dollars.
My daddy is a bad man:p

That's not that bad. Well...is it just credit card debt and loans and stuff. If that includes mortgage and cars then it's actually pretty good.

$50,000 is still a really good amount of money. You should be happy to live in the family that you live in.
