My CRT Reservation is Wrong! What would you do?

I'm in a bit of a pickle and am asking for advice on what you would do in my situation. I booked my upcoming Disney World trip for my parents' 30th wedding anniversary through a travel agent. She also took care of making my dining reservations when the 90 day window opened back in August.

Yesterday I had to call and change all my dining reservations from 4 people down to 3 because my sister is no longer coming on the trip. I got a confirmation # from my travel agent months ago for a 12:10PM lunch at CRT on October 31st. When I called to change the # of people I found out that it is actually booked for October 30th! We don't arrive until late that evening! And of course CRT is booked for the entire week we'll be there.

My mother hasn't been to Disney since her honeymoon 30 years ago and really had her heart set on eating in the castle. :sad1:

I don't know what to do, or what I can even try to do! Any suggestions? :confused3

I would contact my travel agent and have her try to fix it! If you don't cancel it 48 hours in advance and you are a no show then you are charged for the dinners. :(

Do you have an official confirmation from Disney or from the Travel agent???

I have an email from the travel agent stating that she got the reservation for October 31st at 12:10PM along with the reservation confirmation # (in addition to all my other reservations) and I had no reason to believe that information was not accurate.

If my sister hadn't cancelled on the trip at the last minute I would have never had to call Disney dining and I would have never even known about this until I showed up at CRT on Saturday!

I would be calling my travel agent and having him/her fix it!

I emailed her and she definitely has it as confirmed for the right day, so she'll be looking into it first thing tomorrow morning for me. But after my conversation with Disney Dining, I'm not hopeful. After making it clear that there were absolutely no seatings available for any meal at CRT all week, the person on the phone actually told me to pretend the conversation had never happened and just show up on Saturday and essentially play dumb. Neither I nor my travel agent think that's a good idea. Anybody have a better idea than what Disney suggested to me? :confused3

Keep your fingers cross for me!

I would do what the CM told you, go and play dumb.

Take the email from your TA and say, you didn't know. :confused3

I mixed up the days for our Sci-Fi ADR last year. Actually didn't know until I went to check in. I didn't play dumb I actually thought I was there on the right day and the CM got it wrong, but when I went back to the room and checked my ADR paper, sure enough we went on the wrong day. They accomodated us with a little wait at Sci-Fi.

First see what the TA can do. If she's the one who talked to them in the first place, she's the one who needs to argue that she had the day right. I would expect her to call the restaurant directly if speaking to the dining line doesn't work. Grrr, I'm mad for you, but hopefully she can fix it.

That stinks. Would you be able to get earlier flights? Since the TA messed up maybe she could absorb the difference in price.

That would be okay for a reservation that you do not have to pre-pay. If they do not show up for their CRT reservation then they are charged a no-show fee.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the credit card guarantee. Won't you be charged for the 30th even if you show up and play dumb on the 31st? I'm sure it will all work out because it's Disney, but it seems like you will encounter a lot of headaches in the process. I would try and resolve it now while you have your travel agent to help you/back you up.

It's not the TA's fault so, even if leaving earlier on the 30th was an option, I wouldn't expect her to pay the $300 in fees it would cost to change the flights. And as for playing dumb and just showing up on Saturday afternoon, we'd be charged for not showing up on Friday and there's no guarantee we'd be able to get a refund after the fact since it's Disney's word against ours.

My TA called today and spoke with several people, even getting a request in to the restaurant manager but with no luck. We've had to cancel the erroneous Friday reservation to avoid getting charged for being no-shows and the best I can do is go directly to CRT and try to get them to take pity on me first thing Saturday morning. I'm not hopeful since even the manager told my TA today there was no way he could squeeze in our party of three at any meal that day or any other day.

I'd be happy even if they could find room for just my parents, it's their anniversary trip afterall. They haven't been to Disney World in 30 years but I've been to CRT before so I'd be ok missing out if it meant they could get in.

Thanks for the input everyone, all we can do now is hope they can make some magic happen for us on Saturday. :confused3

You have a great attitude about it. But I am curious....how do you know it is not the TA's fault? How do they make reservations? Do they get written confirmation like we do when we do it?

Oh trust me, it's very difficult to keep up a positive attitude when I am honestly infuriated. I have used this TA before and never had an issue, plus both emails she sent me indicated the correct date next to the reservation #. I have no reason to believe it is her fault - but like I said, it's Disney's word against hers.

As I understand it, Disney only sends an email copy of dining reservations if you use the online reservation system. If you call and use the phone system you get a verbal confirmation of the reservation # from the cast member putting it into the system. It's very possible that they entered it incorrectly without even realizing it.

I'm not one to complain about Disney, I've never had a reason to do so, and I understand that mistakes happen but I do think Disney could have tried a little harder to help fix the situation. Maybe if I start crying when I try to get us in they'll take pity on me LOL

I would go to guest services at MK when you arrive. Bring a printed out copy of the emails you received from your TA. Explain your situation about your parents.

I would even ask for a manager there at guest services. You would be surprised what they can do for you. We have had them solve many issues for us. (some small and some larger ones)

Good luck :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry this happened. I agree that you should bring a copy of the email to guest services when you arrive. Maybe they can make something happen. In the mean time, can you make a reservation at another place like Crystal Palace?

Thanks for the input and well-wishes everyone :goodvibes I'm going to need all the luck I can get!
Hopefully I'll have good news to report when we get back next week!

This is not true. My dh boooked a bunch of meals for our April trip online on October 27th when the online system was down. ON the 28th I booked CRT online and then checked all of the others since the system was back up. I was able to enter in all of the confirmation numbers with the phone number we used to place the ADRs, and I saw every reservation. Luckily the only mistake made was in the age of my older dd (they typed in 10 instead of 9 and I know my dh said it correctly as I was sitting next to him). I don't know if you go through a TA whether you would enter in the phone number for the phone they were using though or whether the TA gives Disney your pone number to be associated with the reservation though. But it should be possible to look up a reservation made by phone.

I'm sorry this happened to you -- how frustrating. Try calling at the 24 hour mark since that's the deadline for people to cancel without a penalty. I hope it all works out.:goodvibes

I just wanted to chime in and say that both times this year that we made ADR's, they got messed up by Disney. I made them myself via phone and wrote down all the information. The first time, we were supposed to eat at The Garden Grille and they made my reservation for a month away. We ended up getting seated after waiting for over an hour, but it was not fun. We also missed the fireworks that night due to it taking so long. Disney was not very accommodating in the mix-up.

Then we made reservations at CRT. No one in my family has ever been there before. This trip was a big deal, and my dh was going to propose to me for our 10 yr anniversary and VR (This was a surprise to me). He never did it when we 1st got married. He had everything arranged through Disney to bring out the ring in the glass slipper. Then he gets a call that says there was a mix up and they couldn't do it b/c another engagement was already booked for that time slot. He ended up buying a glass slipper himself and still proposing to me. But no one even was around to take a picture or anything. It was very anti-climatic. Disney was not accommodating in this mix up either.

If I were you, I would try to take care of something now and not wait. Disney will take your money and not do anything about it. I would start complaining to management asap!
