(Head bowed, feeling the need to confess) And I'm Jewish:D

I was doing so well. Lost 13 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks, not having any cravings and on top of the world.

And then it hits:a chocolate attack!!! It occured last Saturday night and I lost all control. I had a big brownie, some DQ chocolate and 2 pieces of boxed chocolate. After 1 hour, I was finally sated.

I went right back on Atkins on Sunday, having gained 1 pound. I did get my "friend" on Tuesday after being late by 3 days, since it was to happen on Saturday. Coincindence, I think not.

I have lost that pound, but now I have been the same weight for over a week. Here comes my question: What do you do about that once-a-month craving that those nasty hormones cause?

The Atkins book says "There is a nutrient almost designed to get you over the hump when you need a sugar fix . L-Glutamine, the one amino acid that can directly serve as fuel for the brain. Doses of 500 to 1500 mg, four to five times a day, may be necessary until the cravings and related symptoms abate."
This should be taken along with "Chromium 200-700 mg per day."
This should do the trick.
I just started taking them 2 days ago because I am on the "Alex Challenge" so no carbolite for me and I was dying for something sweet it was only a matter of time, so I'm hoping this does the trick soon!

Congratulations getting back on track, that's what it's all about:D

I take a L-Glutamine daily. I am not one who dies for sweets, but it is supposed to be good for your muscles too. I try to stay away from the scale during that time of the month, it only upsets me. I should start by Sunday, and all of next week I will not step on the scale...why bother.

Oh, rats, I have no good advice, but I can relate to the chocolate thing. Back when I used to LOVE chocolate, but tried not to eat it much, I'd have lots of binges!!!! :) Hope you are feeling better today!!! Don't fret, the weight will come off. You've done a GREAT job! Keep your head up and don't look back!!!!

Okay, Susan, you are not playing fair here. I'm laughing! I'm supposed to be serious and helpful here on WISH and you have cracked me totally up. There's got to be some rule about that in the WISH bylaws...TigH? Could you check that for me?

Okay, wait...give me a minute....I'm trying look serious here. Taking a deep breath....blowing it out....okay, I think I've got that smiling and laughing stuff under control now.

Bwahahahaha!!! Darn it! I'm trying hard too

I'm telling you, Susan, you aren't playing fair :teeth: *giggle* *snort*

Okay, I think I'm under control now :p

Since I have attained a greatly advanced age I do not have the problem of those once-a-month cravings. I do however have some lovely hot flashes which are very helpful during a Michigan winter but seem to only show up during summer when I'm in East Texas ;)

Can you tolerate sugar alcohols? If you can get yourself some carbolite chocolate. It's wonderful. Tastes yummy, perfect texture and best of all, it's chocolate.

I hope I didn't hurt your feelings posting this--I really was just fooling around and having fun.

My post was meant to be funny:D :D :D Glad you liked it. I know dieting is serious business (just ask all of us that pay billions of dollars a year for "diet aids") but we have to have a sense of humor about it. I have the occasional hot flashes and hopefully, they will occur only when it is in the 90's.

My confession was real, and at the time, it didn't feel funny to have the cravings, but we have each other to get through it.

Onwards and downwards we go and thanks for the help.
