My Chase Plan - Thoughts?

I wanted to close this thread out. As an FYI, a payment to DVC for purchasing direct DOES NOT qualify for the My Chase Plan when purchased using a Disney Visa, but as others said it does give you 6 months to pay it off without any interest or fees. I would assume that other Chase cards (not Disney cards) would allow the option for My Chase Plan since it would not qualify for 6 months of no interest.

The purchase we ended up making was one we could pay off without taking advantage of either offer, but didn't want somebody else coming across this thread thinking they could choose 12 months of payments using My Chase Plan.

Could you do both - use the Disney card for part of the purchase at 0% for 6 mos and pay the rest with a Chase or AmEx fixed payment plan as noted above?

Yes. Buying a direct contract is an excellent opportunity to diversify and take advantage of multiple cards and pay the contract in different ways. You can do chase pay on chase personal cards, on Amex they are running the free no fee pay over time on their cards right now. There are also other cards that as part of the sign up bonus offer 0% for a year or more. The Disney card can be used for some of the purchase but doesn’t need to be all.

I just call Quality Assurance directly. Pay $1000 on card x, then $500 on card y. It isn’t difficult.
I just finished buying a small BLT add on. Now with VGF I am getting some stuff in order this week…then will start the process of regularly calling QA again.
You actually just schedule all your payments with your Guide now when you are purchasing, at least that is what I did. He asked which cards and which dates I wanted to schedule the payments for.

Just did the same. Gave my card for the April 2nd charge and May 2nd charges and will give the 3rd card info to him next month for final payment June 1st.

Hi all if purchase direct using the Disney Premier card, is it messy if I make other purchases on card? For example say I put $20k on the card to buy time to sell another contract, and I make other purchases at Disney world or possibly else where, would the card allow the DVC purchase to be interest free for 6 months and also allow me to still pay off the other purchases so I don’t have to pay interest on other purchases? Trying to figure out how the interest free DVC option works while using the card for other purposes. Also any ballpark on what minimum payment would be on say a $20k balance? Thanks!

Credit card issuers must first apply your payments to the minimum payments amount of both regular purchases and promotional balances.

After that, any excess of funds is applied to the balance with the higher interest rate.

Minimum payments are calculated based on your interest rate and the balance you carry. Typically, it is 2%-4% of the outstanding balance but is very dependent on the card issuer.

One thing to be wary of is that with the Disney Visa and its 6 months at 0% interest is that your 6 months begins immediately. It is not 6 billing cycles.

It does. And your statement will tell you how much to pay to avoid interest fees.

Where it gets “messy” is that if, like me, you want to pay off the new charges immediately, it will actually pay the interest free balance first. You have to wait until your statement cuts, then you pay off the new balance.

Example:
I have $100 interest free. I make a $10 purchase and immediately pay $10. When my statement cuts, my interest free balance is $90 and I need to pay $10 to avoid accruing interest when my statement cuts again.

I have $100 interest free. I make a $10 purchase and do not pay it off. When my statement cuts, my interest free balance is $100 and I need to pay $10 by the payment due date to avoid accruing interest when my statement cuts again.
