My cell phone says "Check SIM"...

And it's only allowing emergency calls. I can't find the owners manual, and I took the SIM card out and made sure it was properly installed...still won't work! Anyone have any ideas, short of me walking up to the Cingular store, to get it up and running? Thanks!

We just had our plan switched over to Cingular and there have definately been some problems.

We had a sim card put in DS's Firefly phone and it said the same thing but if I restart it it's ok.

We did have to go back to the store for DD's phone but found out there was nothing wrong with the phone she just had a hard time sending text mess. to a person with Verizon. The manager siad the have an "issue" with them and wouldn't elaborate. Also, we had a hard time with the media package we purchased and he said anyone who purchased it after the 4th of Nov. was having a problem. Both of these situations were in e-mails he was supposed to have recieved from the company.

Everything been up and running for a couple of days now so I hope all the bugs are worked out.....Good Luck.

Oh geez, this happened to me before. I don't know what I did, but I had to go down to cingular and in the end it cost $25 to get it fixed. I'm still not sure what happened with the card, but whatver. I don't know if it is the same problem you have, but thats all mine would say. "Check Sim".... Hope everything works out.

Take the battery out, pop it back in. Turn the phone back on and it should work.

I tried that...nothing happens and still says "Check SIM". When I push any of the phone's buttons, it reads "Emergency Calls Only". I don't get it?

That happens often with my dad's phone. When I would take the battery out for at least a few minutes it would work for a little while after that.

Hopefully Cingular can fix it quickly for you.
