My cat died Small update post 29

Yes, we do know the owner and he claimed the dog got off his lead. But we saw him yesterday and he had the dog and another dog with him and they were not on leads. He said he would pay the vet bill, but when he heard how much it was, he said he'd pay some of it, so my mother's thinking of reporting him.
Thanks for all your support.

Let me get this right: He knows somehow the dog got off his lead and got into your yard and killed your kitty, then he has same dog and another dog without leads and has the nerve to say he will pay some of it? OH H NO!!!!!!!!!!!! PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY-he apparently needs a lesson in it.

Thanks to everyone for their support. I feel a bit better now and I'm comforted because I believe I'll see her again someday. The owner still hasn't come forward with the vet bill and my mother has found out that the dog has attacked a cat before, so she is going to report him. On a happier note my sister's baby is due next week so I have something to look forward to.:yay:
Once again, thanks to everyone.

I'm late in saying "sorry" but still mean it.
And the dog owner should be reported.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's reprehensible that the dog owner had the nerve to say he would "pay some of it". He has no excuse - particularly when you later saw the dog off his leash again (with the owner's obvious knowledge).

The owner does need reported, and sadly, the dog needs to be put down. After attacking the other cat, the owner allowed the dog to kill your cat (he had forewarning based on the previous incident).

I'm not sure how things work in England, but if you have anything like small claims court, I would definitely pursue the case. It's not just the money, it's the principle of the thing.

So sorry for your loss. It's terrible when things like that happen out of the blue. My condolences.

No, I am a pet owner and have lived with dogs my entire life so it is painful to say this, this dog needs to be put down before he attaks either another pet or a child.

Uhh... no.

As much as I absolutely agree with reporting this incident, this does not mean this dog is going to now go after children.

Many, many, many dogs (and cats) have prey drive. Children aren't included in this "prey".

OP ~ I'm so sorry. What a terrible tragedy.

So sorry for your loss OP, but I also agree completely. I have a yellow lab who is a creampuff, but if he sees a cat, rabbit or squirrel, the animal instinct kicks in and he'd be off like a shot if he wasn't on a leash.
