Okay, I'm at 12 carbs for today. I added .5 cup cauliflower (it's all I had left), i had cabbage & about 3/4 C of green beans. Hopefully the "gassy" fairy won't visit

Soooooo, I still need carbs. I am kindof full but am craving an orange creamsicle drink (cream/diet rite).

What should I do?

Are you still on induction??? I don't think it matters...you can have cream on induction...my advise...have it BEFORE you slip and have something you really shouldn't. Good job on the low carb day.

Tracy

I couldn't agree more with Tracy! Have it now and you won't be craving some "Off Atkins" food later! :)

Thanks for the support. I am still on induction (midway through 3rd week) but on another thread I posted that I have only lost 2 lbs. I also posted my sample menu for the day. Long story short, I was given advice to vary my carb intake more daily (i.e. 10, then 20, then, 15, etc.) I avg. from 12-16/ day. The advice was to try & get my body going again.

Anyway, I ended up having a hard boiled egg & a diet rite w/heavy cream. I also had a piece of Atkins Advantage bar. That did the trick.

Sorry I'm just getting to you with this info Joanne. Here is what the original Alex's Atkins challenge pretty much consisted of.....

Eat as much as you want -- until you feel comfortable BUT do not stuff yourself. If you are hungry at 10pm -- then eat! If you wake up and are not hungry --- don't eat until you are.

Stick as much to the 'old Atkins way' of basics as much as possible. Eating eggs, butter, oils, mayo, beef, chicken, pork, fish, some cheese, some cream, etc. [almost zero carb]

No special low carb convenience foods likes bars and shakes, no cream cheese, sour cream, etc.

Alex said he does drink diet coke -- and plenty of it. Just drink what you feel best drinking --- but I personally would still try to get your water servings in.

Alex later said that one small salad with real [zero carb] dressing each day would be fine --- but he stuck to zero carbs as much as possible. I also took one large dose of metamucil [sugar free] because I need my fiber!

You may want to try this for just one or two weeks to see how you feel. It seems that everyone that tried it felt pretty great [me included] and I believe all of us broke our temporary stalls and lost weight during the first week of the original challenge. It isn't a way that I think I could be happy with for the long haul --- but it's something that I will probably use every once in awhile to get things moving again!

{{{{HUGS JOANNE}}}} Just continue to stick with it and keep tweaking the program until you find what works for you. I can tell that you are very commited --- you will do fine!
:D

Ok, this is just mho...but I think you need to add some fat in that diet. I know it sounds weird, but on Atkins you need to have atleast 60% fat intake...or that is what is suggested. I tend to stall when I don't. Add some dressing to the veggies, the cream helps...how about cream cheese...mayo? Also drink lots and lotd of water...I drink over 90 ounces a day.

Good luck!

Okay, I am considering Alex's (original) challenge now that I am allowed at least a small salad a day. I love salad. I am thinking it over because, heck, it's only for 7 days. How tough can that be?

That being said, guess what today brought? Yep, the scale went down 1 lb. I have been obsessed about my weighing & will try to do something about that. I think whatever I did, switch to decaf, add carbs, I'm not sure what, it worked. I did get more exercise on Monday because I took my kids to Carowinds. We walked (pushing a stroller) a lot. :) That could also be the problem. My exercise is not consistent.

Glo, the little voice in my head keeps telling me to eat more meat & cheese so if I try the challenge, that will force me to do it.

I will keep you posted.

By the way, Jody, I tried the chicken cheesesteak recipe for lunch today, YUMMMY! I used mozzarella cheese instead & I am very full!

Thanks sooooooooooo much.

Joanne,
I weigh every morning. As soon as I get up and after I go to the bathroom --- right on the scales I go! I don't feel it is being obsessive at all. It is what keeps me on track and focussed.
:D
