my car woes

My car is acting up. My dh has tried many things to fix it, first we put a full conditioner type thing in, then he changed the spark plugs and wires, its recently had a new air fliter, and he changed the fuel filter. As a last ditch effort, we replaced one of two oxygen sensors.

The car still, what can be described as hicops. Its intermitent, i cann't recreate the problem. I can tell you conditions that are more likely then others but nothing that WILL cause it.

Fusterated we took it to a local mechanic, and they were unable to recreate the problem. So yesterday i go pick the car up and it starts acting up again, I take it back to the mechanic and drive around with him for half an hour, and nope it won't do it. This is extremely fusterating and costly! I just want my car back working.

I had a problem with a car one time that was sporatic like that. Unfortuately we never did find out what the problem was even after having the mechanic look at it a few times and my dh doing all kinds of things.

Could it be a clogged fuel line, or maybe the actual part that the gas flows through?

A friend of mine had this happen - drove him nuts!! Eventually they narrowed it down. It happened when he had a quarter tank of gas or less - some kind of pump that wouldn't work as well when the gas got lower than a quarter tank.

It hiccups? Like it wants to shut off? Maybe master cylinder? Of course I know nothing but when the car wants to shut off dh sometimes says "master cylinder".

thanks for the replys, my 'solution' right now is to put a notebook in the car and record every trip we make in an attempt to either find a pattern or better describe the problem.

It sounds to me like you might've gotten a little bit of water in your gas. Have you tried changing gas stations? Someone might be selling bad gas.
