My Camera is driving me crazy!!

I am looking for a new small camera that I can take pictures of my young kids with. I just want to point and shoot. I hate the camera I have now (olympus) It takes forever to actually take the pictures.( Even if I try to pre-focus the camera) The kids are long gone or have turned into statues by the time the fash goes off.

Any ideas? I am thinking Canon 1200 or Canon 780 right now, but many people have cool pix? Help.

I'm on my second Canon, and will be in the market for my 3rd soon. I am sticking with Canon, just love them. I'll get another Powershot. Of those two you mention, either would be fine IMO, it just depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. Thanks for the help. I have been all over the web trying to get information. I am just not sure which is best. Either of those two are in my price range. Nothing much over $200.

I got a Samsung SL420 at Walmart just before our Dec Disney trip. It turned out to be a great little camera, it's fast to turn on, takes the pics pretty quick and the pic quality is quite good... and I'm very picky about my picture quality. It was about $130 at Walmart.

I have the canon 1100 and can only assume the 1200 is even better!

I had the small, pocket size Sony cybershot (10.2 pixels) but DGD dropped it right on the lense and broke it. I replaced it with the same camera, but I do not like it as well even tho it was the same price ($175) but had more mega pixels 12.1. The auto focus takes forever and many times, the faces come out blurred if you do not give it time to focus. So, I am still looking for one.
