I just wanted to let you know about a conversation I had with Member Services on Sunday morning. I had contacted them to put a room request in for the VGC reservation I have from 10/2 to 10/9. So here's how the conversation went after all the formal questions (ie: id#, etc):
Me - So I was calling to put a room request in for my reservation #....

MS - Ok, so where did you hear that you could put a room request in at the VCG?

Me - Through the Disney Discussion boards and I know I can do it at WDW resorts so I assumed I could do it at the VGC as well.

MS - Those darn boards, geez! What request would you like?

ME - A Paradise Pier view.

MS - Well VGC doesn't take room requests, but I'll put it in.

ME - Thanks, can I add one more thing? I'd like 3rd floor or higher.

MS - There are only four floors, but I'll put that in. Is there a special color of brick you would like us to use?

ME - Why yes, I prefer a rust colored brick.

Good for you! Why do they get upset when you "request" something when we all know that it is just a request not a given? If they can provide someone with something they know will make your stay better why not do it if its available.

Wow, is it a full moon? Because that is customer service at it's worst :scared1:
I hope she really noted the requests in the reservation, and didn't just give you lip service.

Funny I just stayed on the 5th floor in 5508 in July and I requested high floor, theme park view and that was exactly what I got and although I knew it wasn't a guarantee, it certainly didn't hurt to ask. There is a 6th floor as well.

Sorry that you had such a bad experience. You will however LOVE VGC!

hehehehe! That was awesome! :lmao: :thumbsup2

Too bad you didn't reply with something kitschie like "Knowing is half the battle". :rotfl2: This just reinforces the axiom that Knowledge is Power! Great job on sticking by your guns and calling out the DIS; because, this board is the best!

Maybe they should have mandatory DIS surfing at MS for an hour per day, so they know what we chat about and can predict the coming questions/requests. :rolleyes1

Ditto.
I'm at VGC now, in room 5508. I requested a high floor, Paradise Pier view (not really expecting it, but no harm in asking.) And, as noted above, 5508 fits that description exactly. I can even see World of Color from the room.

I would probably have gone with more of a sandstone colored brick. I think that would fit in better with the tan & green landscape in So Cal.

Have a great trip!

"Knowledge is power"...IF the MS sweetie actually entered the requests!

Given the responses, I think I'd call back and see if there are any requests entered. And if not...we don't seem to have an icon for that!

we have requested certain buildings at okw over the years, and they have always ignored the request. then when we are checking in and ask for the building again, they act surprised and say "oh you requested that building"!!

I also hope she put in your request and didn't "accidentally" forget to save it. I would consider giving MS a call back to make sure it's noted correctly, and hopefully the person you get left their bad customer service attitude at home!!

I agree that another call to MS might be in order to check if the request was actually registered.

That surprises me because my 1st res. in May I requested a certain building and upon check-in they said "oh you are in luck we were able to fill your request" that was at OKW.

Wow, how incredibly rude! Did you wish them a "Magical Day"?!?! ;)

I concur, call back and talk to someone else. Sheeesh.

:faint: There are more than 4 floors. We had 3402/3404. There were floors below us and 3 above us. ;)

This is very surprising. Member Services have always noted my requests and on most occasions made them happen. They always say they are not guaranteed but they will note them on my reservation. I have been a DVC member since 1997 and never had a bad experience with Members Services.
I would call back and report this incident.

I agree with the poster above that OKW requests are usually not granted when requesting one building. Last three trips I put in three building requests, putting the building I wanted most as the third building listed in the request. Worked like a charm.....didn't get my first and second choice, but my third choice. Guess you can say I got my request, but in the past if I put in my most wanted building first, never got it. Might be a fluke, but made us happy.
We are long time OKW owners and spend much time at the resort, even cooking a turkey on Thanksgiving! It is truly our home away from home and location and view is important to us.
When we use the resort as a first or last night, we do not fret on room at all but when we are there for over a week, we really want a great view and location. I have paid to move a few times on the second day but most CM's are very helpful. I find being cheerful and polite does the trick. I have seen people ranting and not getting what they are demanding.

With all of that sarcasm, I doubt your requests were inputed. Luckily, I've never encountered anyone at MS that was unpleasant or sarcastic! I admit that anybody can have an off day but it takes more effort to be unpleasant than it does to just take the info and move on!
