heis a contempory veteran and says that the BLT rooms are tiny.
Anybody who has stayed there care to comment?

If you compare a BLT studio to a resort room at the Contemporary then yes they are much smaller. The BLT studio is small compared to other DVC studios and most rooms.

The one bedroom and two bedroom villas are a nice size.

My adult DD and I stayed in a studio there and we found it to be quite cramped for 2 adults. Other than being tall-ish, we're not exceptionally large people, yet we were bumping into each other, especially in the kitchen/vanity area (I understand this area has been changed, or is in the process of being redone). Even with that correction, IMHO, the BLT studios work best for just one person, or maybe one adult and one child. :thumbsup2

I have stayed in both and the BLT studio is definitely smaller than the rooms at the CR.

.

that's correct "way of thinking". i am sure people don't get their
rulers out & measure how many sq. inches smaller. i think this
is just a ploy, from our experiences staying @ studio rooms.
[ they are design following a similar plan . ]

The rooms are smaller, yes, and the configuration of the bathroom sink and kitchenette is quite odd, but you certainly can't beat the location or the monorail access. BLT isn't for everyone, but that's why DVC is so great -- with all of the DVC properties, you don't have to be stuck staying somewhere you hate. :goodvibes

The studios are smaller, true. If you're a studio user who values size, you're better off at Old Key West or SSR. If you're accustomed to the deluxe hotel accommodations and ammenities you're probably better of in a deluxe hotel.

However, the size taken from the studios at BLT, went into the 1BR/2BR. Those rooms are same size or larger if you look at the square footage.

We just bought at BLT this past August. However, we won't be staying there until October 2011 likely. Look forward to judging for myself.

I never stayed at a CR room. I have only stayed in a 2-BR villa at BLT and it was bigger than most apartments I've lived in. It was massive, really.

I have heard the studios are so small you wouldn't want to squeeze more than 2 people in them, but I have never seen one.

My husband and I stayed in a bay view studio and loved it. The view was incredible, the location was great, and for what little time we spend in the room, the size was fine for us. Our home resort is OKW, but we have stayed in all of them, and I would not hesitate to stay here again. There are ups and downs to every resort for every DVC owner, which is why we have sucha choice. We like them all :).

DH and I stayed in a standard view studio on our F & W weekend. While I agree with all the posters who have commented on the poor design of the vanity and kitchenette, I did find there to be a lot of available storage. I would not stay in a studio with more than 2 adults, or with teens or larger children. The studios are fine for a couple, or family with small children IMO.

We just got back from a 5 night stay in a studio. 2 adults and 2 children (one in a pack -n- play). The room was small but we kept it neat so we didn't have a problem. We also didn't have a studio with the layout everyone describes - the bathroom sink being in a little hallway across from the "kitchen" area. We had a very large bathroom inside the door to the left. Big walk in shower, sink, tub with shower and toilet. We could all fit in there at the same time - it was large enough to put the crib in there if we wanted to.

It sounds like you got an HA room.

I agree it was probably a handicap room. That's not like the studio we were in in Oct. Your studio sounds a lot larger than the one we were in. We had no walk in shower.

If you are a numbers person, a CR room is about 425 sq. ft. A BLT studio is about 339 sq. ft. and the 1 BR is about 803 sq. ft.

The BLT studio includes the kitchenette, which the CR room doesn't have.

Hope that helps.

If you have stayed in a CR room and then see a BLT studio, the difference is huge (about 420 sq ft at CR to 340 at BLT). I would never stay in a studio there either. However, the 1BR is in the 810 sq ft range and that is large (larger than other DVC WDW resorts except for OKW and AKV) and I would easily do that.

Count me in with one who won't ever stay there. I have no interest in toasting my pop-tart while I brush my teeth, having my 4 y/o climb over the balcony railing, or looking at decor that reminds me of the Brady Bunch house.:rotfl:

The kitchenette/bathroom is getting fixed, that was released in the last DVC magazine. We don't know how or what they're doing, but it will be fixed.
