Well I feel like the rug has been pulled from under me.
I started working as a business travel agent with my Ex Mother-in-Law in December 1999, at the end of last year she bought the business herself (before she was a director). Things were going well at the beginning of the year as we got some new clients but just lately it has been very quiet. Maggie now does all the accounts in the office herself and I think it has been a bit of a wake up call for her as she didn't realise how much hard work it is. Anyway a friend of hers (who used to work for American Airlines) has offered to buy the business which is great news for her as she will be able to pay off her mortgage and not have the stress of running it. On Monday she came into the office with her husband to go into details and sort out finances etc. Well she told Maggie that she thinks she will only be able to keep one of us working here. I know that Maggie will stay as she knows all the clients and has been in the business a long time. So I need to start looking for a new job. The only thing is she will probably take over in January so it doesn't give me very long. It just seems totally the wrong time for this to happen as we are saving and saving for our WDW wedding next year. I'm sure something better will come along but I just feel so sad and sorry for myself right now.
I did get a call from a recruitment agency yesterday so hopefully they will be able to find something suitable, if not I may look at a change of career.
