My better late than never TR

Hi katie!!

I finally made it over here...sorry it took me so long. I'm still getting caught up, but am really enjoying your TR so far:thumbsup2

Paula

That's so cool that you got up really really early to go shopping. I went out with my dad around noon, and he was disappointed that he didn't have to fight for a parking spot--we parked like eight cars back from the Kohls entrance. Then I went out with my sister later on for some more shopping and dinner, and the crowds weren't bad at all. Maybe next year I will get up really early and go shopping in Boston or something.

I had an alarm issue and although I had planned to arrive 10 or 15 minutes early, I ended up pulling in the parking lot right at opening time. The lot was PACKED! The only spots left were way off to the side but I ended up slipping right into a side entrance, it was awesome! That's sort of how my day went, things just fell into place to me and I ended up with some awesome deals! :woohoo:

I'm so glad I got to see an update before I leave! I love the photo of you guys around the Goofy statue! It's hard to believe that at this time tomorrow I'll be there! But I better hurry off! Just got home from work and have to shower and all that...airbus comes at 1:30am...

Have the :woohoo: BEST BIRTHDAY:woohoo: tomorrow and I can't wait to catch up when I get home! Enjoy Disney on Ice and take pics for us! :)

Well Stace, by now you are on your way and I am hoping you find smooth travels and have a great time in DHS tonight! :thumbsup2

There will definately be pics of Disney on Ice when you return!

Great pictures! I love the one with Goofy!

thanks, the boys were really surprised when he first talked

Did you make a decision about a June trip?

ETA: I checked your ticker and see that you are going. How are the plans coming?

Hey Paula :welcome:

Glad to have you along. How are your plans coming?

***********************************

My goodness, I just realized that all 4 of you ladies have trips coming up!!

Luckies!

Plans are starting to come together. Just when I think I know where we will eat, DH will suggest something. I am going to TRY to get ADR's for CRT. Hannah will love it! Also, trying for Chef Mickey's and CP. Unless we find super deals on airfare, we are going to drive. Which might be completely crazy with a 4 year old and an almost 1 year old, but we'll try it! Thanks for asking!

Sounds like your BF shopping was fun! I miss having my mom to shop with on BF! She lives in NM now, so she is too far away. DH refuses to go with me! We took (bribed him?) him the year before we were married and he said never again! :rotfl:

Enjoying your updates. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like they didn't get much accomplished on some park days. Some of my days are like - WOOOH - what the heck did I do all day?????? Looking forward to your night at MK, now that everyone is healthy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! party: :bday: :cake: party: ENJOY DISNEY ON ICE!!!

The ferry is a pretty ride.

Your DS did an awsome job with the chalk, what a cute thing.

You all looked so great in matching tees, did you get them at WDW?

I havn't been on Astro Orbiter since I was a kid, I bet the view is awesome.

I never knew Goofy talked, I'll make a point to stop by and see for myself.

I'm all caught up now:thumbsup2 I skimmed most of the chatter though, and just hit the 'chapters' so I'm sure I missed some excellent tidbits, but at least I got the gist of it:thumbsup2

Where to start...
Sound's like a wonderful trip with the whole crew. Your Mum and Dad's Epcot picture together is beautiful!! I hope they have it in a frame somewhere!

It a stinker that so many got sick... at least (so far) it was just 2 waves, and not someone sick every day. But still...yuck!

Your TR is a very fun read, I'm looking forward to hearing more

where in Indiana are you? That makes a big difference in the time it would take to get there. I have toyed with the idea of driving for spring break but from Iowa, you are talking 2 long days plus a 1/2 day. That's a lot of time on the road. You are brave! I would never have attempted it when my boys were that young (I'm not sure they are old enough now for me to be willing to do it!)

Honestly, I think we accomplished less as the trip went on and enjoyed ourselves more. I really commando planned then realized that we would never be able to keep up with the plan and enjoy ourselves. My commando plans turned into smart touring which was much more relaxing! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Disney on Ice was great. I took over 300 pictures (over 1/2 of which that turned out fuzzy, dark, etc) I will share them with you when I get the chance. The weather forecast a couple days ago was for rain on Sat turning into snow overnight with accumulations of around 1 inch. We ended up having snow almost all day Sunday and had about 4 inches. The roads coming home last night were awful. What is normally just over 1 hour took me just under 2 hours! :scared1:

I drive 1 hour to work and woke up this morning to find the roads I take were "travel not advised" so I cancelled my class and stayed home but seem to still have worked most of the day.

The T-shirts came from one of the local Wal-Marts. Since we had a vehicle, it was easy to hit the store for drinks and snacks and $10 shirts! :cool1:

Next time I would love to ride Astro Orbiter at night to see the lights.

Thanks Paula. Chatter is fun when you are following along but I skim too when I am reading back.

Yep, Mom and Dad have the picture in their house.

I am happy to report there were no additional stomach illnesses. I did have a bit of a sinus thing later on but nothing extra strength sudafed couldn't handle.

Just found your TR and loving it so far! And I had to tell you, we were at OKW from June 16-23rd! I've been looking for us in your pics but haven't had any luck yet. I will be starting a TR over Christmas Break so you'll have a chance to look in my pics for you!

I usually go to the Wal Mart first thing when we get to Orlando. We pick up snacks and drinks too. I always get some $10 Disney tees, and whatever else we see. It's become a tradition and I enjoy it. That's also where I got our mister fan. Good times. I really like your shirts, you can't tell they are from WalMart, very cute. I wonder if they have Christmas ones this time of year? ;)

So cool that we were there at the same time! I believe MEK was also there that week (or maybe the week before). I always looked in the background of her pics to see if maybe I was there but, nope. I still have 3 days to go so, maybe!

DH said he saw the same shirts (at least the same design) for sale in the Disney gift shops for around $30.

A rental will always be a serious consideration for us. WDW is fairly easy to navigate and I just keep hearing about long lines, crowded buses and multiple stops before reaching your final destination and I think...why not have my own transportation at my disposal whenever I want it? Then the money saved on a Wal-Mart run really helps pay for the cost of a rental.

Plus, we got a great price on tickets and direct flights in/out of Sanford but ME doesn't go out there. $$ saved on airfare = cost of car rental. (It's even more of that fuzzy Disney math!)

We live about 45 minutes northeast of Indy. It's about a 16 hour drive...we are planning 2 days. We drove to VA when Hannah was about 16 months old and she did really well, so we are hoping it will continue! We think we might get a DVD player for the car to pass the time.

My boys get very restless in the car. It does get better as they get older though. DVD's are our godsend, we went with the built-in ones on our new van. It only took about 2 days to make the "no DVD unless we leave town" rule. Otherwise, they would have them opened up the second they got in the van :sad2:

Having a DVD player sure helped on our trip. We watched Peter Pan twice and Hercules and Mulan. When Brooklynn was asleep, Jill had a marathon of Gilmore Girls going!

A midway stopping point is a good idea. We stop in Perry, GA, which is just about the halfway point for us. We get a shower and some sleep, and then we roll on into Disney World ready to go and not tired. We make a Walmart stop, too, for last minute items that we don't want taking up space in the car, along with snacks and fresh fruit.

Good to have you back MeMom!

I decided to give uploading video a try so (if this works) here is a sneak peek at Disney on Ice

Sounds good! I loved Gilmore Girls!

We plan on stopping around Marietta, GA to spend the night and get some rest. It will be nice to be able to stop at Walmart and pick up snacks, diapers, and such.

I wish my drive was only 16 hrs, ours is 26 hrs. (we drive it in 2 days) I actually like the drive and my kids are good car travellers. Of course we always have the DVD player, laptop and Xbox to pass the time. I drive and DMom reads me articles in various magazines. She is a great co pilot. Last year we went to Auburn AL first, 21 hrs and then a few days later we went to WDW. My DMom has a best friend who lives about 45 mins from my inlaws, so she stays with her. We will probably do the same next year, so the kids can see thier "other" family. (I just go for good o'l southern food)

Memom Did you notice while at Wal Mart if they had holiday tees in the Disney section? I have always wondered about that. Thanks. ;)

WOW! The video is so clear and I feel like I am there. You had great seats. :thumbsup2 Very cute, a nice keepsake of the show. I wish our Disney on Ice was coming sooner. Oh well, it's right before DD's bday so I guess that's better in the end. ;)

I decided I could afford the nosebleed seats for the whole family or 1 really good seat for myself...I went solo ;)

You know you've been Dising too much when....

Today I handed back an assignment (scale model of the solar system) and one of my students papers was missing. I found it in my bag so I checked it real quick and gave it to her. I didn't want to forget to put her grade in the computer so I wrote on a post-it note "Maggie SM 10" SM of course was for "scale model"

Later when I saw the post-it I wondered for a second why I noted something about Maggie and Space Mountain :rotfl2: I think I need help!
