We have been back for about 5 weeks now and I hope to get these on here before now but here they are:
We were on the basic dining plan which we always purchase and have always found that the savings are great if you choose your restaurants wisely. Not having to actual fork over the cash for a meal each day is probably my favorite feature of the dining plan because you have already paid for it so the stress of worrying about how much you are spending is gone- and that's priceless to me.
So here are my 7 resturant reviews for our trip in February!
1) Tutto Italia: I am a big fan of the old Alfredo's restaurant and actually had dinner there the night it closed. I had high hopes for Tutto but it fell a little short in my opinion. The dining room is very loud and very packed- so if you are looking for a nice romantic meal this is not the place. My DH had the steak which was very good. I had the Buccattini pasta which was also very good but the portion did not seem all that large- I finished the whole thing which is rare for me. And the little guy had the spaghetti and meatballs- said it was good as well. It's not that anything was bad it just did not WOW us like other restaurants in Disney do. The one place where I was very pleased were the desserts. We split the Copetta Sotto Bosco and the second I cannot remember and both were out of this world. To die for really! This is a quite expensive restuarant so if you are paying out of pocket my suggestion would be that your money is better spent elsewhere.
2) O'hana Character Breakfast: O'hana is hands down my favorite Disney restaurant for dinner. This was my first breakfast here and it was the same. O'hana has such a fun upbeat vibe that you can't help but having fun while you are there and the food it so delicious. The juice that they serve for breakfast was amazing- I think I drank an entire pitcher. The character interaction was fantastic- they even do a little parade around the restaurant with the kids so parents can sit back and drink a cup of coffee and relax for a few minutes. I cannot say enough good things about O'hana- both breakfast and dinner are a must for me.
3) Chefs De France: Two words- Creme Brulee!!! Now I consider myself quite the conisouer of creme brulee and this was out of this world. I mean I was expecting good because we were in France but it excedeed all expectations. My DH had the duck which he said was excellent and he actually lived in France for a while so I take it he knows what good French food tastes like. I had the beef short ribs which were very tender and good. I think French food is an aquired taste if you are a picky eater this may not be the place for you but if you are willing to try something new this is a great place and the restaurant is beautiful.
4) Spoodles: I have been wanting to try spoodles for years but have always heard mixed reviews. I loved the place. We had a pitcher of Sangria which was great. The atmoshpere just has a really laid back Mediteranean feel. I had the Shrimp pasta- the shrimp were very large and plentiful and the sauce was great. DH had tenderloin filet that was a special that night and that was one of the best dishes I have ever had. The desserts were good but nothing to write home about.
5) Yak and Yeti: I chose this just because it's the only AK restaurant for a sit down dinner on the dining plan. I was so impressed with the food and the ambiance of the restaurant we will defintily return. DH's miso salmon was out of this world. I tried to replicate the dish when I got home and it was good but I am still crazing that meal from Yak and Yeti. I was in an odd mood and got the Lo Mein (boring!) and it was good but you can get lo mein anywhere so I would suggest another choice. The dessert here was unique and delicious. If I could have brought a mango pie home with me I would have.
6) Teppan Edo: We have been to several Hibachi grills and this was one of the better ones. A great show with dinner- kids love it. We had the steak and shrimp combo and it was a great lunch.
7) Kona Cafe: Kona is a new must do restaurant for my family. This place rocks! The atmosphere is a littl decieving because you are in the middle of the resort but we did not feel that way once we were seated. The dish I would recommend here is the tuna oscar which is served sushi grade. Even our little guy loved this dish my poor DH had to share with all of us. I had the shrimp and scallops- the shrimp was ok but the scallops were amazing. The desserts here were also top notch. I highly recommend this restaurant!
So that is my very lenghty dining review thanks for reading if you have any questions please PM me. This was by far the best round of restaurants we have even choosen on a Disney trip- so you can't go wrong with any of these!
