However, that "demand" problem in Tomorrowland will all be changing by the 50th Anniversary, even though Space Mountain is getting a very late start out of the blocks for its two year refurbishment and will be racing the clock all the way to the 50th.

In order to protect sources, we can't reveal the exact details yet. But the financial tap was recently turned on by Jay Rasulo to "fix" Tomorrowland after Cynthia Harriss and Paul Pressler let it die a slow and embarrassing death for the past five years. A brand new attraction has just been approved for Tomorrowland, and it's on a fast-track development and construction in order to be open for the 50th celebration in '05. It's based on an attraction found in another Disney Park, but it will be different from its cousin when it opens in Disneyland.

And no, the top-secret new attraction is not the already mentioned return of the Submarine Voyage. That project continues its closely-guarded status, and infrastructure work for that underwater ride system continues to have money poured into it.

We've previously discussed in detail here the "ride capacity" problem Disneyland now faces, and how serious Jay Rasulo is about fixing it. With the tentatively approved new attraction moving forward quickly, they will likely wait to announce both the return of the Submarine Voyage as well as the addition of an all-new Tomorrowland attraction at the same time later this summer.

Can you imagine, Disneyland actually getting a couple of NEW RIDES for the big Golden Anniversary, rather than just a desperately needed new parade and some merchandise and pin trading events?
