My aunt has been fighting a hard battle with cancer over the past 2 years - she was diagnosed so young at 46 with colon cancer, and it spread, despite massive amounts of radiation and surgeries. Today she went to our Lord in heaven - she leaves behind my uncle, and my cousins, who are so young to lose their mom (22 and 15). We all loved her very much and know that she is now in Heaven with our Lord. We are thankful that she is not suffering anymore...

We have spent the past 6 days in palliative care at the hospital -the hardest thing I've ever had to do as she was in pain, and so spending hours upon hours at the hospital each day, made me feel so helpless, as there was nothing I could do to take her pain away. We were able to say our goodbyes and show her how much we loved her though, and this will always be a special memory that I hold dear.

To all of those who have lost someone to the monster we know as cancer, my thoughts and prayers are with you, and to any of you who are reading, if you could spare a prayer during this busy time with your families, I would so appreciate it.

Lastly, my aunt was the biggest Disney lover, and so next time you are making special memories with your families at Disney, please think of my aunt. We were never able to go to WDW together, as they had to cancel their trips as my aunt was always so ill. Our next trip in July will be very bittersweet, I'm sure.

Cherish those memories with your loved ones...Tiger :(

I am so very sorry for your loss. It's so much worse in the holiday season.
She was much too young to be taken from her family. I will say a prayer for her and you. :sad1:

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have an aunt battling lung cancer (non-smoker). Such a horrible disease. :sad2:

I'm so very sorry for your loss, specially at such a young age :sad1:. Sending prayers to all during this difficult time, sadly it makes for dampened spirits for the holidays for sure. I know this pain as both of my parents battled the beast, my Dad lost his battle, but thankfully my Mom is a BC survivor.

I am so sorry to hear about your aunt.:sad2:

I had an aunt pass away just before Christmas about 5 years ago now from a seizure, leaving behind two young children. It was heartbreaking and the holidays are a very difficult time for them. It is always a tragedy to lose someone so young and so loved, but around the holidays, when the rest of the world is full of joy it can be so much harder.

Many prayers for your aunt and her family.

I am sorry for your loss, especially when your Aunt was relatively young. It reminds me that each day is given as a gift to all of us but we can't take it for granted. Sounds like your aunt was a wonderful person.

I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep your family in my thoughts. Her children are way too young to loose their mom. My mother died suddenly in her sleep when she was 50. I was 24 at that time and my DB only 17. I know their pain.

Very sorry for your loss...losing someone is always painfull but it really stinks during the holiday season.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My grandfather passed away on Christmas Day several years ago. The holiday season is still bittersweet. Wishing you and your family peace this Christmas.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My DH's dad died two years ago today from cancer, and I lost my mom to colon cancer when she was only 55, also around the holidays. It is always harder to lose your family during the holidays. I'm so sorry for your family. God Bless you all.

I am so sorry for your terrible loss and have said a prayer:flower3:

Thank you all. :grouphug:

Hubby and I are exhausted as we've been spending most days at hospital - we still have to host Christmas Eve dinner tomorrow night for his family, wrap gifts, etc. We aren't much in the Christmas spirit, but we are trying to be for our kids and nieces, as well as my aunt as Christmas was her favourite holiday.

It has been a very hard week, and the funeral isn't until next week, as my uncle wants people to be able to celebrate Christmas with their families (my aunt would want this), and because we have people coming from very far for the funeral.

Even though she has been ill for some time, I still can't believe she is actually gone - she was so young. It's so hard when you are very close to someone (we ate dinner together every week, vacations, etc.), and watch them suffer so terribly. Death is just the last final stop in a very long and difficult journey that my aunt was burdened with.

She was an amazingly generous and kind person. Heaven definitely welcomed the most amazing  today...

Thanks for your prayers, Tiger

I will definitely say a prayer for all involved.. That's so very, very sad..:(

My dad died of colon cancer as well - only 3 months from the date of the original diagnosis..:sad2:
