My BCV Stay - Anyone Else Notice...?

I've been really hesitant to post about this, but I returned recently and experienced some quality issues at the Beach Club Villas. Our unit was not in very good condition. Some furniture was broken, wood items were chipped and some of the finish was missing, carpets were stained, drapes were dirty, bedding had holes in it, and the unit just was in general disrepair, and also gave the impression of a lack of housekeeping. It's not that it was filthy, it's just that it was cleaned up to standard (which we've experienced at the BWV, VWL, and other Disney resorts).

Has anyone else noticed these same problems? I know I've read a few reports in the past, but I haven't been around the boards in a while. It is just a shame that the resort is only almost four years old and our unit looked the way it did. Please, if you are experiencing problems, report them while you are there and make sure you get a CM who will listen. I've read that you need to bring problems up to the resort while you are there and not once you've returned - well, I've found that to be true.

Cali, I'm sorry to read of your experiences. We've had good experiences at BCV but I agree that it is important to call while there.

Our problems have been minor and addressed as soon as we call.

I also have read your posts over the years and know what a levelheaded and thoughtful poster you are.

If you give BCV another try, I hope you have a better vacation. pixiedust:

I was wondering did you report these things ? and how did it go? I always seem to get a quick responce. :cool1:

We just got back from a 2 bedroom at the BCV and did not notice any problems other than a few chips in some of the furniture which is expected for the number of people that stay at that resort. Sorry to hear about your trip. We would definitly return.

I have stayed at the BCV twice. On the first visit I found paper had been washed with the sheets and it had melted and adhered to the flat sheet under the blanket. Unfortunately I didn't see it until day 3--gross. Sadly the housekeeping staff had to have seen it and made the bed anyway. Towels were discolored and thin. Refridgerator wasn't working right and an outlet was cracked and broken.
On the second visit there was brown stuff ?? smeared on the bedspread so I called immediately and they replaced it along with dish soap which they had forgotten. I find it best to inspect the room on your arrival and call immediately if something isn't right. The first time I responded to their survey and never heard anything about my complaints. The second time I called right away and since they were so nice and came right away I felt more relaxed and had a better vacation.
Another thing is the condition of the hallway carpets-the light colors are pretty but are often stained. Despite all that we love the location!

I was just there last week. I did notice a few chips in the armoire that holds the TV in the living room and a few stains on the rugs or furniture here and there. Overall though, I didn't think the place was in horrible condition. In fact, I found it to really feel like a deluxe resort. I had an awful room...178...at the absolute end of the long hallway on the first floor and bordering the parking lot.

I'd definitely go back to BCV, but I would pray for a better room location next time.

I definitely think they are having problems with the carpet. I know HHI, had the same issues with carpet that did not hold up well to wear and tear and they had to finally replace all of it.

I am sure leaving the bags of garbage in the hall, like housekeeping does, contributes to this situation.

I am sorry to hear this, as I know you were so excited about your stay there.

A few years back, before becoming DVC, I convinced DH to venture out & try something new (no easy task) & we stayed at the BC (not the villas).

Suffice it to say that the conditions in our room were so disgusting that the hotel mgr (who handled this with the utmost professionalism) honored our request to change resorts (yes, DH was that skeeved).

Because of that, I don't know if I will ever convince him to stay there again (no matter how cool SAB is).

Everyplace can have issues from time to time. I think when it happens to you it just changes your feelings in general about a place.

I totally agree that we all need to bring attention to issues in a courteous way so that mgmt has an opportunity to correct them, both for you & the next guest.

We did let a CM know at the resort know, who told us it would be best to contact MS. We just got a standard reply from MS, then my reply to it was unanswered.

I've been lucky with my stay at BCV. I was there 3 times for the past 3 years in January.

I did have a towel on the roof outside of my patio. I called 3 times about it. It bugged me so much everytime I went out there there was this towel on the roof part of it in the gutter.

The 4th call I got hyper with the manager and asked it to be fixed right away. The poor person they sent finally figured out how to get the towel without killing himself. (I was on the 4th floor). He got the towel and trys to hand it to me. Its not mine.

I agree about the towels thinning!

We just returned from a 7 night stay at BCV and found everything in our room to be in good condition.

I did notice the carpets near the elevator banks (5th floor) were a little dirty. The day we were leaving, they shampooed the carpets and were drying them with portable dryers.

The hallways were also being touched up with paint. All in all, everything looked great! :thumbsup2

Maybe if everyone took their garbage to the designated locations they wouldn't be leaving so much of it in the hallways - I think it was mentioned a long time ago that notices in the units about where the trash rooms are would help as some people don't seem to know they even exist. We just take it out as we leave for the day and since we use the disposal for the wet food stuff it really isn't that much of a deal if we forget a day or don't have a full bag to dispose of. Guess I'm just a little too optimistic that this could happen but it would help. At least at OKW and SSR it is not ruining the hallways although while at SSR it did create an unpleasant reaction to see bags of garbage outside room doors (don't know if housekeeping or guests left it there though). :confused3

That is a bit distressing to hear. :sad2:

I think MS should have an obligation to be responsive to its members comments/questions. I don't mean they have to jump on every little thing but they should extend the coutesy of a reply. After all, if it was important enough for you to take the time to contact them the least they can do is acknowledge you.

Maybe they have received so many comments that a plan to improve is already in the works?? Or may be they have just received soooo many comments...

Yes, I agree. But, I think there are so many members and so much for them to do, it results in a lower level of customer service. I would have thought that would be more of a priority, but I guess not. :sad2:
