My babies feet are too chubby for shoes!

DD has little blocks for feet - short, wide, and thick from top to bottom (high instep). I found that the Robeez knock-offs worked well for her at that age. They weren't too tight across the top.

For walkers (it sounds like he isn't quite there yet), See Kai Run shoes have been GREAT! Stride Rite, even in wide, doesn't work for her because of her high instep, but these do (I have bought them at zappos.com with free shipping and free return shipping and from dandelionbaby.com with SKR coupon code for free shipping)...

These are the best and cute, too!

Enjoy!

I have the same problem w/ my dd4 and for the most part other than crocs the only shoes she wears are the robeez as well as the target brand. I have had no trouble w/ them and since they are a soft leather they are easy to put on. We have actually tried getting the stride rite shoes and so far have not been successful but we don't have a stride rite store near us so the places that sell them locally don't fit her feet and order them the way a stride rite store will.

My DD is now 4 and his feet have finally thinned out! When he was little, I kept him in Stride Rites extra wide shoes. The stores were great about measuring his fat little feet. A couple of times, I did need to order his shoes. It was simple.

My son has little block feet too. We tried so many things. Stride Rites weren't much help for me since his feet with fat on top too and square at the toes. His toes were getting worn even in the extra wides that they measured him for.

What worked for us:

pediped .....we loved these!!!!

Also, recently Robeez started making a shoe with a rubber bottom. I would be sure to choose the ones with the velcro strap though. Also, they run really big. These are working well right now.

I shop for these shoes through Zappos.com and Shoebuy.com because they have free shipping both ways so if something doesn't work you just keep trying!

Good Luck!!!!!!

Another big Robeez fan here! My daughters feet were very chubby when she was a baby, she did fine in her Robeez.
She is 4 now and her feet are on the smaller size. Go figure, lol. Anyway, she still wears Robeez, in size 2-4 years as slippers in the house.:)

I heavent read all the posts, but have you tried Crocs or the likes of them?? They are pretty smushy and are a bit wider and malable than most shoes... Just a thought!?? Good luck!

((PS I guess I should have read all the posts... There is a suggest for Croc right above this!! LOL))

I'm a mom of an extra-wide-footed boy too.

What about a sandal-type shoe that closes with Velcro? (thus making it somewhat adjustable) -- Since the shoes are meant for standing and not walking, I would not invest in Robeez or Stride Rites.

My youngest had triple wide feet. Thank God for Stride Rite. I didn't have much choice, but it gave him shoes. Luckily, his feet are down to wide; still somewhat of a problem, but not as bad as it was before.

Laughs! I saw this thread and your post and I totally feel your pain! We had this same issue and for the first 3 years of our DS #4's life he had to wear Dtride Rite's. They are a great made shoe and we always shopped the sales but still spent 40-60 $$ on a shoe that he would wear not more than 2-3 months!

Go spend the $$ and get your son sized for a decent on sale pair of stride rites! They have some really cute styles! and as all women know shoes can make an outfit!
:cutie:

What is it going to hurt if he goes around in some cute slippers! LOL If it is hot, you may have to go without socks though. My son was this way, we had to purchase sandles that ONLY had velcro on the top and leave them almost open. We only used them when it was REQUIRED to have shoes.

Good Luck! We do feel your pain! LOL

I haven't read all of the replies. My DD also has Xtra Wide feet. I buy her sneakers from New Balance for about $26, which is much cheaper than Stride Rite prices.

I often buy DD's New Balance shoes on the internet from http://www.nbwebexpress.com and have found that the sizing guide on Stride Rite's website does a good job for finding DD's size for online orders.

Also, for shoes that aren't going to be worn too often, Payless Shoes come in wide sizes. In my experience, the Payless Shoes run big, so make sure to size using one of their sizers (their online one works great).
