My aquarium fish had babies that were born with hidden Mickeys

We had a pair of these in a 3 gallon aquarium when my son was a toddler (he's 23 now). We left "Mickey" and "Minnie" for a week for a Disney World trip. When we got home, we had the original two, plus TWENTY SEVEN baby platys in that tank! We ended up giving most of the babies to my dad -- who has several fresh-water fishtanks... and he still has descendants from those fish.

I always wanted a Mickey Mouse platy but I tend to gravitate towards more aggressive aquarium fish. Maybe I need to ask for a new tank for the holidays and promise myself to not get cichilids 🤣

Africans or South Americans? I had a lot of success with African Cichlids back in the day. I put the aquariums away a long time ago and just this past year, started up my 75 gallon again. I stocked it with various Africans but now have one lone one left who I have nicknamed a name that I cannot type here without being put in time out. I hate him but cant bring myself to get rid of him. I think I am going to do rainbowfish next after he finally departs. I have had them before and they are so nice and peaceful.

I've had both (separately), but it's been a while. I couldn't have as many when I had South/Central Americans, but the two most dominant in that tank were my Jack Dempseys. I also had a Salvini cichlid in with them that also did well. I think we replaced him with a Texas when he passed. When I had Africans, it was things like Yellow Labs, Johannis, Peacocks, Demasonis and Zebras. The Zebras were always my most successful. I had a red, a blue, and a marmalade that produced more fry than I could count. They wound up taking over the tank. Back when I had the South/Central Americans, I had a fish guy who convinced me to try a community tank after I had some space freed up. I wound up with two Boesemani Rainbows and a Pinktail Chalceus. It was too much stress for the rainbows, but the Chalceus lasted around 7 years. Part of me would like a peaceful tank and would love to have Discus, but I've read that they are such a challenge.

Wow….that’s pretty cool.
