So now I booked my flight, hotel reservations are made and my AP is on its way - I'm ready to go

I was just curious about how you were buying your WDW Annual Pass?

Does your WDW annual pass start the day you buy it?

Or are you buying a voucher?

Do you buy vouchers from the Disney Club, or the Disney Store, or can you buy them from AAA and get a better deal?

I don't want my WDW Annual Pass to be activated until I get to WDW on November 30, 2002.

Any suggestions?

You can buy a voucher for a new AP at any Disney Store (although around here, the DS has to order them so there is a bit of a wait involved). You turn in that voucher when you arrive at WDW and your AP is activated that day. You can skip all that if you want to and just purchase your AP at WDW. Just remember to bring your Disney Club card with you. I bought my DIScon 2002 voucher a few months back and, when we made last minute plans to go to WDW, I was worried because I didn't have time to buy AP vouchers for the rest of my family. Not to worry. I was able to buy Disney Club discounted AP's right there at the International Gateway at Epcot. No hassles.

If you purchase a AP renewal voucher, your renewed AP will be activated on the date that your previous AP expired. Make certain that the voucher you ask for and receive is for a brand new AP (if that's the way you want to go).

Sorry, I don't know whether or not AAA has a better deal on APs.

I ordered mine as a renwal with a Disneyclub discount saved about $60. I was assured over and over that I would be getting a voucher that I could trade in for the pass in Dec....and would be activated the day I ifrst used it.

I remember a year or so ago that they tried to change the rules and forced you to activate your annual pass when you purchased it instead of waiting until you were ready to go again.

Now I'm really confused. I thought they changed that rule and renewal AP's get activated the minute you renew-keeping the same expiration date as the pass before. It used to be that you had that extra time between getting the voucher and activating it, but I thought they did away with that. Now I have no clue.

They promised and swore up and down I was getting a voucher...I better be getting a voucher. I am just wondering how long it takes for it to reach me!!!

That's why I made a point of saying that there are TWO kinds of vouchers. A renewal voucher just adds a year to the expiration date of an existing AP. A voucher for a brand new AP (which does cost a bit more) gets you a brand new AP that expires one year from the day you trade in the voucher for the AP.

(first price is w/o DC, second price is with DC discount)

Premium Annual Pass $497.17 $ 475.97
Premium Annual Pass renewal $444.16 $428.26

Unless the rules changed back to the old method, a renewal voucher will not work the way that glo (and the person from the DC) described.

Ray - With a Disney Club card, you can save $21.20 on a new Premium AP or $15.90 on a new AP.
