Saturday August 30th
On this lovely day we had plans to go to AK in the morning and then hop over to MK to meet up with Dugette to switch off riding Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Side note: Aria is now over 38” WITHOUT shoes on – and she knows that means she gets to ride 7DMT! She is SO excited about it too, I love it! Now she knows she has 2” to go until Splash Mountain and BTMRR! So much fun.

Anyway back to this day – we were up super early and I think we grabbed some snack type breakfast at Kidani before heading over to the park. I took some photos as we checked out a couple overlook areas.

A beautiful way to wake up!

We had no Fastpasses for our time at AK because I booked them all for MK later in the day, but that wasn’t an issue at all. We were about 3rd in line and headed straight back for the safari and walked right on.

We did have this guy visit right alongside the vehicle

And this one too!

The safari was great as always and afterwards we walked the Pangani trail and checked out the gorillas and other animals.

Now that the train to Rafikis was open (it opens at 9:30 most days) we hopped on it and pet a few goats. You can see how hot and humid it is already as Aria’s straight hair has turned curly!

Then we met up with Rafiki inside with no line.

And back to the park on the nearly empty train!

We still had some time to kill before our Tusker House lunch so headed to Dinoland for a quick spin and ended up going around twice as there was no line and Aria was having a ball.

The Dinoland play area was next up and we spent some nice time in the shade over at the boneyard digging. The sand/rocks are sort of strange (and get everywhere) but she still had fun.

So excited to see this post, as you did things that we plan to do (Boneyard, Rafiki's Planet Watch) that we've never done before. How long do you think you spent at Rafiki's (including the train ride)? I'm trying to get a sense of how to plan our AK day. And seeing the Boneyard, I don't know if we'll ever get Rory out of there!

It's funny that you mentioned Aria's straight hair curling due to the humidity. From the pictures I've seen of her, I always thought she had curly hair, and when I saw that pic of her in the room in the morning I was surprised at how straight it was! Either way, she looks adorable.

I'd say it was 35-45 minutes total for Rafiki's. You could spend more time there, but we just do the things we love and then leave. In October we got there right when Chip & Dale were having a little dance party and then meeting, so we spent a lot more time but it was totally unplanned fun.

The Boneyard play area is really great. Aria wasn't quite ready to leave either but the promise of lunch with Daisy was enough to get her moving!

Well she does have curly hair! I straightened it that morning though, and she inherited my hair which does not ever look good in Florida humidity. Poor kid!

So excited for her to ride the Mine Train - I bet she'll love it! Wow, I can't believe she's almost tall enough for the "big kid" rides too!

I KNOW!! Another growth spurt, plus those cowboy boots :genie:

and she might be able to ride in May! We shall see! EIther way we'll have enough to ride.

Yeah definitely not sand, more like fine gravel? Aria didn't seem to mind but I didn't enjoy the feeling of it - sitting on it, having it in my shoes etc.

From there we headed to lunch – a little earlier than our ADR but I was getting worried about the time with Dugette’s 7DMT FP looming - I think we had to be at the MK by 1:35 for her FP window in order to both ride it! This worked out fine as Aria was able to nap in the MK vs our resort, but I was just a bit worried about the logistics of getting inside the MK with that timeframe & not wanting to skip our Tusker lunch.

I was surprised there was no Donald outside, but instead he was walking around inside which was nice.

I had to make a quick bathroom run to change Aria into her Daisy dress, and then we were good to go for lunch! Donald stopped by before we headed up for some food.

While he was signing her autograph pages, she thought it would be funny to pet him. Hmm

Aria was SO into the characters this meal and was constantly watching for when they’d be over. Mickey was next and she hopped right down and ran over to him when he was heading to our table. I love her enthusiasm! Our waiter was walking by at that point so he took a photo for us.

I mean, the poor duck just can't win. :lmao:

(On an only-mildly-related tangent, Donald went swimming on a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse we watched the other day. Normally, he just wears a shirt. But, to swim, he was shirtless with swim trunks. I am so confused :confused3

I checked my TR and the FP+ window for Mine Train closed at 1:25pm! Hope you didn't have to rush through anything too much.

Glad that Daisy loved the dress and was a good meet!

Thanks for reading despite the super annoying way the DIS posted the update!?! ARGH! Hahaha yeah poor Donald, he was beat on. That is funny about him swimming!

I was sort of in a rush and here is when I royally screwed my camera and the reason it went to a camera repair shop for like 3 months following this trip (and why I bought a different lens for our October trip!). I folded up the stroller to fit into the trunk – with the camera still hanging from the handle! UGH! The new wide angle lens attachment thing thankfully kept the lens from breaking fully, but it shattered the threads that allow for a lens cover to be threaded on. Still usable, but with my track record I now needed to be incredibly careful.
Anyway we hightailed it to the MK parking lot. I used my little parking lot trick and found a perfect spot in the first row of parking. I didn’t lay Aria down just yet because I figured she would be too excited hopping on the monorail, so instead we enjoyed that ride together, made it to the MK and with the crazy heat headed into that first shop to pull out the blanket and get her settled inside. She found the hats while I was looking for the muslin blanket, so of course I took some photos. I had texted Dugette and I think she was still on the bus from her resort? SO no need to run up Main St yet to get to the 7DMT.

I got her settled down though and we walked through the stores (ie through the AC) back and Dugette made it just in time to use her FP. We weren’t sure if the rumors of us both needing FP’s were true so we tried for a rider swap and were successful in getting that. She helped wheel Izzy’s stroller over to the shop across the way and then hopped on the ride. Aria was asleep at this point, and Izzy was not too happy about her mommy leaving, but she quickly settled in once I started showing her photos on my phone. I think I also played some peek a boo or something and she had fun with that, and in no time Dugette was back and I used the rider swap for my turn on the ride.

Maybe I’ve gotten soft in my old age (hehe) but the crazy roller coasters are just not my thing anymore, so 7DMT & BTMRR are perfectly my speed. SO much fun and I’m so excited to experience it with Aria in May.
After that ride, I attempted to see if anything else might be available for my FP to 7dmt, but nothing was so we ended up each riding it again. I think Dugette got Izzy to sleep (or maybe I did during the 2nd round of 7DMT rides? I don’t remember) but by the time both of us had ridden twice both of the girls were asleep and neither of us had plans for a bit. So we headed to Gaston’s! We got some fun Photopass pics

And then went inside to get some fun drinks – Lefou’s brew! It was an unexpected but wonderful break from the heat. I think we chatted for a good 30 minutes or so while enjoying our drinks, before Dugette had to head out to grab her FP spot for the parade.

I decided to see what FP’s I could get with Aria’s magic band, so headed to a kiosk with that and managed to get Pirates along with a few others for later. I headed over to the entrance to Tom Sawyer Island and Aria started to wake up then so we headed over to play on the island for a bit.

Sorry you didn't like the food better at Tusker House . I like how the breakfast there has a mix of standard American breakfast food as well as some different traditional African food items - but seems like Aria was great which the characters - and very nice you got the picture together with Mickey!

Really cute picture of Aria with the hats! Glad you made to MK in plenty of time and seems like a good time was had by all. I remember this part from Dugette's TR so cool to read about it from your point of view as well.

We still haven't made it to Tom Sawyer Island - think we need to make a point to do that at some point.

Really cute picture of Aria with the hats! Glad you made to MK in plenty of time and seems like a good time was had by all. I remember this part from Dugette's TR so cool to read about it from your point of view as well.

We still haven't made it to Tom Sawyer Island - think we need to make a point to do that at some point.

UGH! I don't know what is going on. This is what happened to my last post from a couple days ago? It was fine when I posted, I triple checked! Now it's screwed up again.

If it helps, that's what was happening to my posts before I figured out to insert the image into my posts (with a different Photobucket link) rather than the URL. It showed fine in my editing, badly on the actual board. After much hemming and hawing and loads of frustration :mad:

, I finally figured out how to post pictures on these darn boards. Now that I click the image button and insert the other link type (I don't remember which, offhand, but could check later tonight if you need me to?) I don't have any more issues. I think it has something to do with a post having too many "characters" if you're posting pictures with the URL instead of the image link.

I love your report, by the way. ::yes::

I looks like pictures/links are too embedded or something. I noticed even further up that your text is set as links to pictures. For example, I can "click" on "This turned out to be a blast – Aria was so excited to enter the caves and run around – and when we got to the barrel bridge instead of being afraid she wanted to try it herself! She was so proud after going across!" and it takes me to a picture ... so my guess is something is off with the open or close brackets to a link or picture. I noticed your post ends with about 100 "" - which is also a sign to me that there is something off with matching the open "" to the closing ""[/URL]

It might be like SimplyGoofy mentions that how you inserted the pictures has too much text ... you can actually insert pictures right into the site now without having to use a hosting site (i.e. photobucket) at all - that might be easier

I use facebook photo albums to insert photos. Does anyone know how that will work now? Can I still do that?? Photobucket doesn't work at work of course! And I am not sure how to insert a picture without entering a url to it. Ugh what a mess!! Sorry to bug you all with this and thank you so much for the tips.

To insert a picture directly, while posting you will see a button in the lower right that says "Upload a file" - click that and then browse to the image you want to upload. It will upload it and then you can choose to insert a thumbnail or the full image

Thanks - that does, though of course none of my photos are accessible hence why I use Facebook albums from which to upload photos.

Can't figure out how to do that without the img url.

Test post trying to figure this out!

I decided to see what FP’s I could get with Aria’s magic band, so headed to a kiosk with that and managed to get Pirates along with a few others for later. I headed over to Tom Sawyer Island and Aria started to wake up then so we headed over to play on the island for a bit.

This turned out to be a blast – Aria was so excited to enter the caves and run around – and when we got to the barrel bridge instead of being afraid she wanted to try it herself! She was so proud after going across!

Later we had our Pirates fastpass to use, and enjoyed our ride on that.

Afterwards since we were right there, we walked through the treehouse which is always fun.

My original plan had been to come to the MK after nap time and before dinner, visiting Tinkerbelle and Mickey before heading to our dinner at Be Our Guest – so that left the next step to head back to the front of the park. First up we met Tinkerbelle! Aria was being super silly and SO excited to meet her.

Side note: I just heard that they may be bringing back some of the Fairy friends to the meet! That’d be so great.
After that, we had about 15 minutes before we could use the Mickey FP, so Aria spent that time telling me how much she wanted EVERY SINGLE TOY in the shop. I let her play around a bit, then she humored me by trying on some mickey ear hats before heading back around to see Mickey.

Unfortunately the Fastpass was in NO WAY FAST and 15 minutes later were still in line. Aria was having a blast though, I think I had purchased a Jake sword and something else for her so she was enjoying playing with those and was certainly not complaining about the time. I also *THINK* this is where we were when Dugette asked us to come take photos in front of the castle? I am not sure but I know we were too far to do that

Finally it was our turn and we had a great meet with Mickey again. Aria still talks about “talking Mickey” and is always quick to point out when a character can’t talk.
