As promised here is the little report with pics on the surprise I organised for Paul as a present to celebrate our First Wedding Anniversary.
Soooo Paul and I were celebrating our first wedding anniversary on the Disney Magic followed by 6 nights at The Wilderness Lodge Villas. Our actual anniversary we spent in Palos on the Magic and it was delightful.
Paul had got me some wonderful anniversary gifts, a frameshare certificate of one share in Disney, its so cute, paper dollars for me to spend in WDW, some paper gift vouchers for my favourite store here in the UK, Marks and Spencer, all of which were fun paper gifts and I was really chuffed then he handed me an envelope and inside was a print out of our favourite hotel in Cyprus and a voucher for a 5 night stay for the both of us in September how wonderful was my hubby !!!!
So what did I do for him you are all asking? .. well I had set up a couple of surprises for him in WDW the first one was that we were going on a Keys to The Kingdom Tour in the Magic Kingdom with some of our close friends, which I had told him about so he knew to expect that. The second surprise was one he wasnt sure about, he knew of course that it would entail food. On of Pauls favourite meals is steak, it has to be said that he cannot get enough of his favourite meat
Sooooo I arranged for us to get a cab from the Wilderness Lodge over to the Yacht Club and of course Paul was thinking ahhhh were going to The Yachtsman Steakhouse and I could tell he was getting excited but he didnt want to say anything in case he spoiled my surprise. Well originally I had planned that we would have a pre-dinner drink at The Ale and Compass Lounge off the Yacht Club lobby, however it was full to the brim with conventioneers so we walked around to the Crews Cup Lounge situated right next door to the Yachtsman Steak house. I could tell that Paul was thinking that I wasnt making this much of a surprise LOL so for those that dont know at the Yachtsman Steakhouse there is a glass larder which has all the different cuts of steak/meat on display and you can also see this from the Crews Cup lounge so I took us to a table right next to it!! LOL poor Paul was almost salivating over it and I just looked at him and said Im really sorry but were sooo NOT eating here tonight OMG the look of disappointment on Pauls face was a picture and I think he thought I was trying to double bluff him.
So we finish our drinks and I walk him away from the Yachtsman Steakhouse back towards the lobby of the Yacht Club, where I make him take a seat, I said to him lets just take a seat and take in the moment its our favourite resort sooo this did not surprise him I think by now he was thinking maybe we were going to go get the boat across to the Boardwalk to Flying Fish or maybe I was going to take him to Shulas.
So were just sitting there when this Cast Member comes up to us and introduces himself and asks us if we like good food we both replied yeah of course LOL has the Pope got a balcony? so he says well in that case can I invite you both to experience some of our fine food at The Yacht Club Gazebo!!!? Paul then starts to giggle and says yeah that would be great so he walks us round to the Yacht Club Gazebo and there are little tealights up the path and in the Gazebo itself was a table laid for the two of us and a private butler waiting for us. The table had been decorated to fit with our original wedding theme of Under the Sea and I was bowled over by the lengths the staff had gone to.
Paul was really surprised and had a big grin on his face.
Our butler was called Rafael and had worked for Disney for years we loved him!
I had chosen the menu for Paul and I which was pretty easy as I know what Paul loves to eat. So I went for a Ceasar Salad to start for us both:
We also had the onion rolls from The Yachtsman we had these on our wedding day and I love them - I could eat a whole basket alone!
Paul still didnt know what food was in store for him but after Rafael served the salad he asked Paul how he wanted his T-Bone steak cooked Awww bless, I think Paul in some respects was more pleased as punch that I had ordered a T-Bone for him than he was about the Gazebo
So we just sat there taking it all in of course there were guests that were looking out at us from their balconies and we kept giggling that they must have thought that we were VIPs or something LOL
Anyway so Paul had the T-bone with steak fries and I had gone for the "Land and Sea" both were cooked at The Yachtsman Steakhouse
We also had a beautiful bottle of Robert Mondavi Chardonnay as Paul had been having a lot of this on the cruise, the previous week, he obviously liked it and so I ordered that when we had got off the Magic.
Dessert was crème brulee but I forgot to take a piccie. It was a real struggle for both of us to try and eat it but we managed to force it down. Then we sat and finished our wine I took care of business with Rafael and then it was time to leave The Gazebo as Illuminations was due to start. So we headed down the pier and found a suitable spot to watch them from it was a perfect ending to a very apt Anniversary surprise for my hubby.
For those that want to know in order to eat at the Yacht Club Gazebo as it is a wedding location you would have to check that it is available and there would be the usual charge of an intimate wedding location, I organised this through the Disney Weddings Department plus the cost of the meal and private butler service which I organised through The Yacht Clubs Private Dining department. It was well worth the money spent in order to celebrate our First Wedding Anniversary in our actual wedding venue.
