Just returned yesterday from an 8 night stay at WDW. I had a full size reserved with Alamo for $118 total. I used the AD code that has been going around lately. All went well. Checked in using the kiosk for the first time. Just be careful when you get to the insurance screens. I declined it all and we headed off to pick out our car. It was around 11:45 pm, and the only car left in the full size area was a Toyota Highlander, so we took it. Thanks to the original poster of that awesome code that gave me such a great deal! :thumbsup2

Plutosfriend,

Did you have an additional driver? Trying to determine if you can check in at kiosk with additional driver.

I second the be careful with the insurance screen. Even after I went back and corrected it, it still wanted to charge me 200.00 more. I ended up cancelling the screen and went to the desk to finish the transaction.

Yes, it did include the additional driver with the codes I used. (Walmart and the ADR one that has been posted a lot). We didn't end up using the extra driver. My dh did all of the driving.

They really try to trick you it seems. Hmph!
:headache:

We had a great experience with Alamo also. We rented two mini vans. The first one I used the Costco ID and got 10% off plus an additional driver and the second I used Walmart Id code and got 10% off plus an additional driver. I changed the reservation a couple of times before I got a great rate of $179.49 per week minus 10% and an additional driver included. I tried using a couple of different coupons and ID combinations but never got a better deal. Since we didn't have a coupon I used the online check-in and everything went smoothly. As soon as we picked up the luggage we headed out to the parking garage and picked out the vans and headed for the exit, passed in the paperwork, drivers licenses and credit card for verification, she passed them back and we were on our way in about 2 min. :thumbsup2

We just returned from WDW and we also had a great experience with Alamo. I had a full size rental for a week for $ 56. Siince I was using the AD coupon, I used the kiosk. It took about 5 minutes total. I didn't find the screens confusing - just click decline on the insurance screens. Then we went out to the parking garage and there was a whole row of full size. There were many Higlanders, a few Corrollas, and a Chevy SUV hybrid like the Highlander (can't remember the name.) I am glad we had a choice because some of them smelled funny (air freshener to cover up smoke smells is my guess.) We went with the Chevy because the kids liked it (leather seats, smell, etc.) We then checked out at the exit. I was very smooth, no more than 15 minutes which most of that time spent picking between cars. And the car worked out just fine!

I wish we would have had more choices of cars! Ours did smell kind of funny!

Has anyone else had trouble accessing the alamo.com website today? I even tried clicking thru a Hot Deal email that I got from them and nothing

Newbie here...AD code? What exactly is this and is it still active? THANKS!

Here is the thread

I don't know if the code is still active, as I can't access the Alamo website.

Wonderful! Thanks! I actually was able to access their website and use this code and the rate I was able to get is cheaper then what I currently have...However I'm hesitating about booking this because there was a message that said: "You have entered a coupon that may be required to be presented at the time of rental. Please read the terms and conditions of the coupon before selecting your vehicle to ensure your coupon will apply to your reservation. If you are using an upgrade coupon, please select the car category you wish to upgrade from."

Has anyone had experience with this and will I actually need to present a coupon at the time of rental?????

No, you do not need to have it. It is an ecoupon. I used it on my reservations last week and was never asked for anything. I used the kiosk and it was very quick. I have seen other posts that say the same thing. So go ahead and use it -you won't have a problem.

Yes, we just did last week. I checked in at the kiosk with no problems at all :) Very simple this way and you don't have to deal with a pushy Alamo agent person.
